Overview ***This position is physically located in the Marshall Islands in support of LOGCAP*** The Meat Cutter is responsible for ensuring the highest quality of fresh meat products for our valued customers. The Meat Cutter's expertise in meat cutting, trimming, and preparation will play a crucial role in providing an exceptional shopping experience and meeting the customers' diverse culinary needs. The Meat Cutter will work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, utilizing their knowledge of different cuts of meat and food safety practices to deliver products that are both visually appealing and consistently delicious. Dedication to maintaining cleanliness and adherence to hygiene standards will uphold our commitment to food safety and customer satisfaction Responsibilities This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company. + Utilize various cutting tools, such as knives, saws, and grinders, to portion and trim different cuts of meat according to customer requests and store guidelines. + Prepare specialty cuts, such as roasts, steaks, chops, and ground meat, maintaining precision and consistency in each cut. + Follow established recipes and instructions to prepare marinated or seasoned meat products. + Offer expert advice to customers on meat selection, cooking methods, and recipe ideas to meet their specific preferences and needs + Address customer inquiries and special orders with professionalism and a customer-focused approach. + Provide excellent customer service, ensuring each customer interaction is positive and memorable. + Adhere to strict food safety and hygiene standards while handling, cutting, and storing meat products. + Monitor meat temperatures and storage conditions to maintain freshness and prevent spoilage. + Clean and sanitize work areas, cutting tools, and equipment regularly to ensure a safe and sanitary environment. + Monitor meat inventory levels and communicate with the store management regarding stock replenishment needs. + Rotate stock to ensure older products are used first, minimizing waste and maximizing product quality. + Work closely with other meat department staff to maintain a well-organized and efficient meat department. + Assist in receiving and inspecting meat shipments, verifying the quality and quantity of products. + Other duties as assigned Qualifications + Education / Certifications & Experience: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required. + High School Diploma or equivalent. + Experience + 1-2 years of experience as a Meat Cutter or a similar role in a retail or food service environment. + Skills + Very good command of the English language. + In-depth knowledge of different meat cuts, preparation techniques, and cooking methods. + Understanding of food safety guidelines and sanitation practices related to meat handling. + Excellent customer service and communication skills to interact with customers and address their needs effectively + Working Conditions: + Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit. + Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, wet, tropical environment with average temperatures of 130 degrees in the summer months). + Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well. + The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside. + The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals + The worker is subject to vibration. Exposure to oscillating movements of the extremities or whole body. + Physical Requirements: + Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. + Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents. + Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices. + Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
