Materials Test Technician
Location: Charlotte, NC
Pay Rate: $29.65/hour
Job Type: Contract (Temp-to-Perm)
We are seeking a Materials Test Technician to support hands-on testing and evaluation of materials and components used in turbine generators and rotating electrical equipment. This is a hands-on industrial laboratory role that works closely with Materials Engineering but does not require engineering design responsibilities. Strong opportunity for permanent placement based on performance.
Key ResponsibilitiesPerform hands-on laboratory testing and evaluation of materials and components
Prepare test samples using hand tools and precision techniques (cutting, cleaning, labeling, staging)
Set up and operate a variety of test equipment according to established testing procedures
Accurately record test results, observations, and measurements
Communicate findings to the Materials Engineering team
Assist with ongoing testing programs and development projects
Safely move materials using forklifts or overhead cranes as needed
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized laboratory environment
QualificationsAssociate’s degree or higher in Engineering Technology, Mechanical, Electrical, Materials, Chemistry, Applied Physics, or a related technical field
Minimum of 2 years of experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or laboratory environment
Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on tool experience
Ability to follow detailed procedures and accurately document results
Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
Basic computer skills, including MS Office
Preferred / Nice to Have
Forklift and overhead crane experience
Experience with materials testing, industrial labs, or quality/testing environments
Exposure to power generation, motors, or rotating equipment

Pay Details: $29.65 per hour
