Materials Planning & Logistics Manager
ManpowerGroup
**Materials Planning & Logistics Manager**
Our client, a global manufacturer building a new flagship U.S. facility, is seeking a Materials Planning & Logistics (MP&L) Manager to lead all planning, inventory, and logistics operations for a greenfield manufacturing site.
This is a career-defining opportunity to design systems, build a team, and own the end-to-end material flow that enables production of large-scale, complex modular assemblies serving some of the world’s most recognizable technology customers.
As MP&L Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring clear-to-build readiness every week during a rapid ramp-up period — balancing supplier performance, inventory health, and logistics coordination while helping stand up SAP as the plant goes live.
**Why This Role Stands Out:**
+ **Ground-Floor Leadership** – Own materials, planning, and logistics for a brand-new facility
+ **Strategic Visibility** – High impact role with executive and cross-site leadership exposure
+ **Compensation & Support** – Competitive salary, bonus, and relocation package
+ **Career Growth** – Be part of a business unit scaling from hundreds of millions to multi-billion revenue
**What You’ll Do:**
**Plant Start-Up & Supply Chain Setup**
+ Develop and implement MP&L processes, systems, and infrastructure for a new production facility
+ Join the ERP (SAP) implementation team to ensure plant readiness at launch
+ Establish procedures for kitting, staging, and inventory accuracy in a high-volume, ramp-up environment
**Materials Management & Logistics**
+ Ensure on-time inbound supply and outbound shipping coordination
+ Manage transactional purchasing, expediting, and day-to-day supplier performance
+ Stand up local “milk run” deliveries and outbound logistics partnerships to support just-in-time production
**Production Planning & Scheduling**
+ Oversee 0–3-month production planning horizon
+ Maintain alignment between production schedules, capacity, and materials availability
+ Adjust plans dynamically to support week-over-week production growth
**Inventory & Performance Metrics**
+ Maintain cycle counting rigor and ≥98% inventory accuracy
+ Achieve supplier OTD ≥95% and ensure clear-to-build (CTB) readiness for each production cycle
+ Monitor and improve inventory turns while minimizing excess and avoiding shortages
**Leadership & Continuous Improvement**
+ Build and lead a high-performing MP&L team including planners and schedulers
+ Drive Lean/Kaizen improvements and simplify processes using 80/20 methodology
+ Partner with cross-functional leaders (Operations, Engineering, Quality, Finance) to ensure ramp-up success
**What We’re Looking For:**
+ Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Engineering, or related field
+ APICS CPIM, CSCP, or similar certification preferred
+ 5+ years of experience in materials, planning, and logistics within a manufacturing environment (HVAC, industrial equipment, or complex assemblies strongly preferred)
+ 3+ years in an MP&L Manager, Materials Manager, or equivalent leadership role
+ Start-up/greenfield or expansion experience highly desired
+ ERP experience (SAP strongly preferred, equivalent ERP acceptable with short learning curve)
+ Proven ability to deliver results in high-mix, heavy-assembly environments (mechanical, electrical, welding)
+ Strong cross-functional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
+ Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and rapidly scaling environment
**Travel Expectations:**
This role includes frequent travel during the initial ramp-up period for hands-on collaboration with an established sister site where product assembly and processes are already in motion.
+ First 1-3 Months: Travel up to 50% (typically two weeks per month), supporting knowledge transfer, systems alignment, and hands-on learning at the sister facility. Weekday travel only.
+ Months 3–6: Tapers to 25–30% as equipment is installed, and hiring/training intensifies in Franklin.
+ Post-Launch: Occasional travel (~10%) for corporate meetings, customer visits, and supplier engagement.
**Ready to Build the Future?**
If you’re ready to lead MP&L operations at a greenfield manufacturing launch and build the systems that will power a flagship facility for years to come, we’d love to connect.
