Materials Engineer
A Snapshot of Your Day (position overview) As part of the Materials and Welding Engineering team, you will collaborate with multifunctional teams to provide materials and special processes guidance on a variety of engineering projects, both to support new component manufacture and to support repair operations. Daily activities will involve interaction with teams throughout North America and the world with a goal of improving existing technologies while leveraging legacy product line experience. When the need arises, you’ll have the opportunity to visit our manufacturing partners in different parts of the world. **How You’ll Make anImpact (responsibilities)** + Provide technical input to standards &specifications for materials, nondestructive testing (NDT), welding, andother special processes + Review, approve, and qualify suppliers andrepair shops for activities related to welding, materials & specialmetallurgical processes. + Proactively lead and develop standardrepair methods and selection criteria + Answer technical requests for support onmaterials related issues dealing with nonconformances, materialsubstitution requests, and field and shop repairs. + Lead or support Root Cause investigationsrelated to Materials and Welding issues + Support R&D activities related tomaterials, welding, heat treat, and NDT **What You Bring (requirements)** + Bachelor of Science degree in Materials orMetallurgical Engineering + Experience inferrous metallurgy, heat treatment, brazing, welding, and coatings + 5 - 8 years inmetallurgical lab or metallurgical engineering function. + Ability toeffectively communicate project progress and issues to Senior Management. · Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
