Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Materials and Process (M&P) Engineer (Level 2) or a Principal Materials and Process (M&P) Engineer (Level 3) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in Clearfield, UT.

Our M&P team works independently but interacts constantly with other engineering groups and customers to achieve expectations. We’re empowered to make decisions but can draw upon corporate resources to support us when needed. Each member of the team is tasked with identifying ways to improve efficiency in the team in the pursuit of continuous improvement. We’re looking for a fellow self-starter who enjoys assessing and understanding risk to join us.

The selected candidate will work in a team environment with other engineering organizations performing detailed technical reviews of drawings, specifications and manufacturing plans.

Note: This position can be filled with an Engineer or Principal Material and Process level.

Responsibilities:

Review/build material specifications and product specificationsResolve material concerns for production operations including MRB evaluationsSupport/develop novel solutions for design and manufacturingVerify manufacturing limits and ensure specifications are maintainedDevelop requirements for structural and chemical testingSupport root cause and corrective action requirement analysis

Basic Qualifications for a Material Process Engineer:

Degree must be one of the following: materials engineering, chemical engineering, polymer science or other relevant field of study + the qualifications below:B.S. with 2+ years of professional experience ORM.S. with 0 years of professional experience ORPh.D. in a relevant STEM disciplineYour ability to obtain and/or transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government secret clearance and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the Company

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Material Process Engineer:

Degree must be one of the following: materials engineering, chemical engineering, polymer science or other relevant field of study + the qualifications belowB.S. with 5+ years of professional experience ORM.S. with 3+ years of professional experience ORPh.D. with 1+ year of professional experienceYour ability to obtain and/or transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government secret clearance and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the Company

Preferred Qualifications:

Current active Secret clearance (or higher)Degree in Materials Science, Chemical, or Ceramic Engineering, or other closely related disciplineExperience in composite materials testing methods, procedures, failure modes, environmental effects, and bonded composite jointsComposite fabrication experience and planningExperience supporting composite primary and secondary structures, metallic, vendor supplied material certifications, approved materials list, and support forensic activities as requiredExperience or familiarity with composite processing techniquesExperience with production control systems (SAP/Visual Mfg/etc.)Knowledge of or laboratory experience in materials characterization techniques (DSC, TGA, SEM, optical microscopy, mechanical testing, etc.)Experience in working on business or engineering full life-cycle projects from project inception through launch

Experience with risk mitigation

Capable of implementing failure analysis techniques in manufacturingRamp up rate for high volume manufacturing

Primary Level Salary Range: $72,100.00 - $108,100.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $89,400.00 - $134,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
