**Role Summary:**
This individual contributor role is responsible for driving data accuracy, material availability, and inventory optimization across the end-to-end supply chain. This role transforms ERP and planning data into actionable insights that support production schedules, procurement execution, backlog reduction, and working-capital goals. The Materials Analyst partners closely with Buyers, Planners, Manufacturing, Quality, and Finance to ensure materials are available when needed, excess inventory is minimized, and risks are identified early. This position supports engineered manufacturing operations for $120M in annual revenue with as many as 300,000 active item masters.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Material Availability & Shortage Management
+ Monitor MRP, backlog, and production schedules to identify material shortages, late orders, and constraint risks
+ Proactively highlight line-down risks, critical shortages, and supplier performance issues
+ Partner with Buyers and Planners to drive recovery actions (expedites, re-plans, substitutions, or resequencing)
+ Track and escalate material risk on key customer orders
+ Review MRP exception messages to determine inventory and item master planning adjustments required to fulfill the production plan
+ Partner with Production planners to evaluate production capacity planning and ensure that the inventory and manufacturing supply plan is sufficient to meet the backlog and forecasted demand plan
+ ERP, Data Integrity & Planning Governance
+ Support BOM governance, material master cleanup, and planning logic accuracy
+ Identify and correct MRP drivers that create false demand, excess inventory, or shortages
+ Maintain and validate item master data, including:
+ ABC/XYZ categorization
+ Sourcing and supplier data
+ Planning parameters
+ Order policies (MOQ, lot size, safety stock)
+ Lead times
+ Inventory & Working Capital Management:
+ Analyze excess, slow-moving, and obsolete (E&O) inventory
+ Support disposition, transfer, or re-deployment of materials
+ Monitor Days Sales of Inventory (DSI), turns, and inventory exposure
+ Identify opportunities to reduce inventory without increasing service risk
+ Performance Reporting & Analytics:
+ Build and maintain dashboards and reports for:
+ Shortages and past due material
+ Supplier delivery performance
+ Inventory health
+ Backlog and revenue risk
+ Translate ERP and planning data into clear, decision-ready insights for leadership
+ Support SIOP, backlog reviews, and recovery meetings
+ Leader and SME in LeanDNA usage across purchasing and planning.
**Requirements:**
+ Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Business, Engineering, Finance or related field.
+ 3-7 years in materials planning, supply chain analytics, or production control
+ Strong understanding of the function of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and Master Production Scheduling (MPS) systems.
+ Demonstrated proficiency with data analytics preparation and autonomous decision making.
+ Advanced Excel Skills (pivot tables, lookups, formulas, data analysis)
+ Experience working in manufacturing, preferably ETO or regulated environments
+ Basic business acumen and understanding of the financial impact of inventory account balances, working capital, and how to influence associated business results.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills, with fluency in English.
