Expereince Job Title: Material Testing Technician

Job Description

This position is ideal for entry-level construction candidates eager to learn. The role involves working in the field to take samples of concrete and soil, ensuring ground stability for construction projects. You will spend the majority of your time testing construction materials like soil and concrete to verify compliance with building plans and specifications, essentially performing quality control to ensure correct construction of streets and buildings. No prior experience in material testing is required, but it is a plus and can lead to higher pay. A background in geology is also beneficial.

ResponsibilitiesConduct field testing of soil compaction and concrete.Perform field inspections of reinforcing steel (rebar) and masonry.Work independently 90% of the day, visiting 3-4 job sites daily.Communicate effectively and utilize basic math skills.Remain flexible and willing to work long hours, especially during summer.Ensure quality control and compliance with construction standards.Essential SkillsExperience in concrete and materials testing.Basic math skills, including addition and subtraction.Ability to lift and transport a 50-60 pound wheelbarrow frequently.Clean driving record.Pass a driving test, background check, and drug test.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in construction or related labor.1+ years of material testing experience preferred.Geology experience advantageous for soil analysis.2 years tenure in previous work history.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

The position is 90% field-based and 10% office-based, requiring comfort with working outside in various weather conditions. You will be working at sites before any building construction begins, mainly dealing with dirt and concrete landscapes. The role involves driving between multiple job sites daily, and training will be provided by a senior technician.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $20.00/hr.
