Material Handler
**Job Title: Material Handler** **Job Description** The Inventory Coordinator is responsible for executing basic tasks at a customer site or multiple customer sites within a region. This includes inventory management, purchasing, shipping, receiving, chemical tracking, storeroom tracking, and product delivery. The role requires knowledge and application of VWR and routine customer systems. The Coordinator must adhere to Standard Operating Procedures and regulatory requirements. **Responsibilities** + Perform inventory management tasks such as monitoring slow-moving and dead inventory, conducting cycle counting, and yearly physical inventories. + Provide daily customer service functions and communicate with customers regarding inventory management. + Execute purchasing functions including back order reporting and expediting, direct factory shipments, 3rd party support, managing quotes, and resolving open invoices or pricing issues. + Handle all customer service-related functions such as order entry, reporting, maintaining metrics, and cost savings tracking. + Coordinate shipping activities, handle routine issues, operate basic warehouse equipment, and enter shipping information into customer computer systems. + Manage hazardous materials and prepare shipping documentation and packaging requirements. + Interface directly with customer contacts, including purchasing directors, facility directors, and plant managers. + Manage consigned, non-consigned, customer-owned, or 3rd party inventory. + Utilize VWR and basic customer computer systems (SAP, Citrix, Intranet, VWR+, ChemSW, and customer-specific systems) in fulfillment of job duties. + Meet goals and objectives related to safety, performance, and quality. + Create programs for enhanced service efficiencies. + Interface with VWR sales force and manufacturer representatives. + Document change management and update Standard Operating Procedures. + Conform to all customer requirements for checks, health and safety issues, and security clearances. **Essential Skills** + Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office with proficiency in Word and Excel. + Solid understanding and experience in shipping, inventory, or purchasing. + Excellent customer service skills with a professional attitude. + High regard for safety, quality, and adherence to protocols, policies, and procedures. + Ability to self-manage, self-motivate, and think forward. + Capability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. + Effective communication skills with both customers and internal contacts. + Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. + Travel to sites as required. + 2+ years of experience in material handling/inventory replenishment and customer service. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Spill containment training, IATA, DOT, IMDG, and OSHA Right to Know are advantageous. + Cross-referencing and inside sales experience are a plus. + Knowledge of scientific products and services is beneficial. **Why Work Here?** Join a dynamic and supportive work environment where your safety and professional development are prioritized. While work is mostly sedentary, it may require walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting or carrying objects weighing less than 10 lbs. The schedule is Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, with a one-hour lunch break. Flexibility in the schedule may be possible. You will support various sites including Genentech in Oceanside, CA, and Ionis in Carlsbad, CA. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, California. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
