Job Title: Material Handler
Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Material Handler to join our team, responsible for sorting and organizing metals for processing and recycling. Your role will involve material handling, unloading, and loading trucks, with work split between our warehouse and outdoor yard. You will start with metal sorting and grading, with the opportunity for equipment operation training based on performance. The regular hours are 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday.

ResponsibilitiesSort and organize metals for processing and recycling.Handle materials and manage inventory.Unload and load trucks efficiently.Work in both warehouse and outdoor environments.Begin with metal sorting and grading, with potential for training in equipment operation.Essential SkillsComfortable working in industrial environments.Willingness to learn forklift operation.Experience in manufacturing or warehousing is required.Ability to work outside approximately 50% of the time.Comfortable wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).Additional Skills & QualificationsUnderstanding of material handling processes.Familiarity with production, packing, picking, inventory, and shipping.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

Work in a heavy industrial scrap metal yard, which can be loud with heavy equipment and machinery. This environment is on the dirtier side, requiring the use of PPE such as hard hats, steel-toed boots, safety glasses, and ear plugs. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, Oregon.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.50 - $23.50/hr.
