About the RoleAs a Material Handler at Wheatland Tube (a division of Zekelman Industries) in Blytheville, AR, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of materials that support production operations. This role is ideal for someone who is safety-focused, dependable, and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Shift: 2nd Shift - 4:00 PM - 2:00 AM
Moves freight, stock, and materials to and from storage or production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, or containers by hand or using forklifts and related equipment.
Identifies and sorts cargo before loading and unloading.
Reads work orders or follows instructions from the Lead Material Handler to complete assignments.
Records units handled or moved using daily production sheets or work tickets.
Maintains equipment storage areas to protect inventory.
Stocks production areas with required materials and puts away extra supplies when no longer needed.
Performs general housekeeping to maintain clean and safe production areas.
Operates equipment safely while adhering to all established safety procedures.
Assists with special projects as assigned.
Who You AreExperience: 1+ years of related experience; forklift certification preferred.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Technical Skills: Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and material handling equipment; knowledge of measuring and testing devices, hand tools, and power tools.
Soft Skills: Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, ability to work independently, clear communication, and a commitment to safety.
Additional: Ability to become forklift certified; basic math and mechanical aptitude required.
Physical AbilitiesAbility to lift, carry, push, or pull materials as needed.
Capability to operate heavy machinery and equipment safely.
Regular, predictable on-site attendance required per posted schedule.
PPE RequirementsDepending on tasks, personal protective equipment may include:
Enhanced visibility work uniforms
Safety glasses, goggles, or face shields
Hard hats or climbing helmets
Fall arrest harness
Hearing protection
Steel-toed footwear (with possible metatarsal protection)
Respiratory protection (dust masks or respirators)
Welding helmet, welding attire, and other protective gear as required
Machinery & EquipmentMay frequently operate or work with:
Forklifts, pallet jacks, industrial trucks, elevated platforms
Overhead cranes and heavy machinery
Welding and cutting equipment
Various hand and power tools
