Job Description

The Material Engineer is responsible for reviewing project specifications, drawings, and standards and preparing material submittals, prequalification (PQ) documents, and technical inputs for RFQ packages.

The role ensures that all proposed materials and suppliers are fully compliant with project requirements, specifications, and applicable codes, supporting efficient and risk-controlled procurement.
The Material Engineer acts as a technical interface between Engineering, Procurement, and Suppliers, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely submission of all material-related documentation.

Review project specifications, drawings, schedules, and technical requirementsPrepare material submittals in accordance with contract and project specificationsPrepare supplier and material prequalification (PQ) documentsEnsure all material submittals comply with:Project specificationsApplicable codes and standardsEmployer and consultant requirementsCoordinate with design and engineering teams to clarify technical requirementsAssist Procurement Engineer in preparation of RFQ documents, including:Selection of relevant drawingsSelection of applicable specificationsTechnical scope descriptionsReview supplier technical data sheets, catalogues, and compliance statementsPrepare technical comparison sheets and compliance matricesCoordinate technical clarifications between suppliers and engineering teamsMaintain organized records of material submittals, approvals, and revisionsSupport timely resubmission and closure of comments from consultants or clients

QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical)Knowledge in international codes and standards relevant to construction projects is a plusMinimum 5 years experience in material engineering or technical procurement supportExperience on building or infrastructure projects preferredExperience in MEP materials is an advantage
