Marine Electrician - San Diego, CA Job Description

The Marine Electrician plays a critical role in supporting the Field Installation Services organization on board US Navy ships. This position involves installing, terminating, and testing fiber optic and copper cable assemblies to support various ship services, including power, communication, telephone, and alarm systems. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work from customer drawings are essential.

ResponsibilitiesInstall, tag, and band fiber optic and copper cables on various classes of surface and submarine Naval Vessels.Perform all duties required to layout, fabricate, and install electrical wiring, coaxial cable, waveguides, or fiber optic cable onboard Navy vessels.Troubleshoot and test fiber and copper cables and circuits.Perform tasks with little supervision, using skills acquired in shipboard or airframe electrician's trade.Read and interpret drawings, specifications, technical manuals, and design notices.Use all tools of the trade such as multi-meters, pin crimpers, soldering tools, and handle complex electrical installations.Familiarity with basic computer skills and MS-Office programs, including Word and Excel.Essential SkillsMinimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience working in ship repair onboard US Navy ships.Experience with multi-pin copper connector certification per Navy Standard Item 009-73 (MIL-STD-2003-5).Familiarity with NAVY Standard Items.Ability to read, understand, and follow customer work item requirements, drawings, and wiring diagrams.Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr.
