Marine Electrician
**Job Title: Marine Electrician** **Job Description** The Marine Electrician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems aboard a naval vessel. This role involves ensuring the vessel's electrical systems are operational, safe, and compliant with Navy standards. **Responsibilities** + Inspect, test, and diagnose issues with electrical systems and equipment. + Install and repair wiring, fixtures, and equipment for all electrical services on the ship. + Conduct regular maintenance of electrical systems to ensure optimal functionality and safety. + Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics. + Comply with all safety and environmental policies and procedures. + Assist in the design and installation of new electrical systems and upgrades. + Maintain detailed records of work performed, including any necessary repairs or replacements. + Assess and order necessary materials and supplies. + Collaborate with other marine professionals to ensure the overall safety and functionality of the vessel. + Support the modernization and upgrade of Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical systems. + Assist in the deployment of new technologies to reduce maintenance and workload requirements. + Participate in the installation and maintenance of advanced radar, sonar, and weapon systems. + Help with the integration of electronic charting display and information systems. + Perform tasks related to the environmental quality improvements aboard the ship. **Essential Skills** + Three years of shipboard experience at the journeyman level. + High school degree or technical vocational high school degree. + Eligible for DBIDS. + Experience as a Marine Electrician. + Deep understanding of marine electrical systems and components. + Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Proficiency in troubleshooting and repair of shipboard electrical systems. + Experience with conduit bending and cable pulling. + Familiarity with installation and maintenance of fiber optics and advanced wiring systems. **Work Environment** Work is conducted aboard the naval vessel at Naval Base San Diego. The environment involves using hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, wiring tools, and safety equipment.
