What You’ll Do:

Lead Welding Excellence: Own all welding‑related activities, from process development to critical weld inspections using visual and NDT methods.

Master Machining & Fabrication: Design tooling, plan processes, and program CNC equipment for low‑volume, high‑mix projects across steel, aluminum, stainless, and non‑metallic materials.

Troubleshoot: Solve machining and programming challenges to keep operations running smoothly.

Drive Projects Forward: Act as a project manager ensuring quality, speed, and client satisfaction every step of the way.

What skills you will have:

Manufacturing Processes: Strong background in welding, machining, and fabrication processes. (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector credential.  CNC programming experience for mills, lathes, and fabrication equipment. Proficient with 3D Modeling (Creo, Solidworks, Inventor) 

Capacity Planning & Management: MFG: Knowledge of tools, approaches and practices for determining production demand and ability to manage resources needed to provide satisfactory levels of service.

Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

Lean Manufacturing: Knowledge of the philosophy, principles and implementation approaches of lean manufacturing; ability to integrate and implement lean manufacturing philosophy into existing production and management processes. Passion for quality and continuous improvement.

Manufacturing Application Systems: Knowledge of company and industry databases and applications used in a manufacturing environment; ability to operate, maintain and update these systems.

Manufacturing Equipment: Knowledge of the electrical, mechanical and logistics equipment used in manufacturing; ability to safely operate, maintain, update and store them. Foundation of Safety 

Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

Top candidates will have:

Bachelor’s Degree in Weld Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering.

Additional Information:

The primary work location for this role is Tucson Proving Ground, Green Valley, AZ with a requirement to work on-site full-time at a Caterpillar facility.

Domestic relocation assistance is available.

This position may require up to 10% travel.

Schedule: Enjoy a 9/80 work schedule, providing an extra day off every other week—equivalent to 26 additional days off per year for improved work-life balance.

Visa sponsorship, international assignments, or payroll transfers are not available for this role.

Summary Pay Range:

$97,530.00 - $146,290.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
