Manufacturing Engineer / NC Programmer
Location: Lafayette, Indiana
We are seeking a skilled NC Programmer to join our team at the Lafayette Large Engine Facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in NX CAD/CAM software, multi axis machining, probing cycles, and Vericut verification. This role requires high proficiency in various software and tools, as well as excellent communication and teamwork skills.
What you will do:
Proficiency in NX CAD/CAM version 2000 or greaterAdeptness in NX Post Builder (Siemens, Fanuc, DMG, and Mazak controls)Experience with Vericut 9.0 or greaterKnowledge to build NC controlDevelop machine kinematicsImport solid model tools to the libraryAbility to customize machine simulationsIn-depth knowledge of Teamcenter and the Machine Resource LibraryFamiliarity with Creo version 7 or greaterWell-versed in Siemens, Fanuc, DMG, and Mazak G&M codeExperience with HMC, Gantry (head changer), and multi-axis machining centersMill turn experienceStrong print reading skills, including understanding basic GD&TAdvanced knowledge of tool applicationAbility to interpret tools, fixture, and NC layout drawingsCapability to calculate cutting feed and speeds by referencing manufacturers' recommendationsSkill in deciphering NC code written by a machine tool supplier and converting that code to NX CAD/CAMUnderstanding of Renishaw probing cyclesWrite probe cycles for Fanuc and Siemens controls using Renishaw Inspection Plus forPart sensing and applying block skip functionsLocating features and applying offsetsProbe various features and perform calculationsCandidates will be required to possess skilled proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, excellent written and oral communication skills, and be a team player willing to work with various departments of the Caterpillar manufacturing team
Education:
Four-year Engineering degree (Mechanical or Industrial) or relevant experience is desiredWhat you have:
Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Extensive Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
Judgment and Decision Making: Working Knowledge of the decision-making process; ability to carefully evaluate the impact of emerging business situations and choose the best path forward communicating actions and activities that maximize organizational performance.
Lean Manufacturing: Working Knowledge of the philosophy, principles and implementation approaches of lean manufacturing; ability to integrate and implement lean manufacturing philosophy into existing production and management processes.
Manufacturing Equipment: Working Knowledge of the electrical, mechanical and logistics equipment used in manufacturing; ability to safely operate, maintain, update and store them.
Manufacturing Processes: Extensive Knowledge of existing product manufacturing methods, technologies and processes; ability to execute, plan, manage and monitor the entire manufacturing process.
Manufacturing Safety: Extensive knowledge of manufacturing safety; ability to identify work-related hazards and perform necessary activities to meet regulatory requirements for the safety and protection of workers, environment and site.
Manufacturing Standards, Procedures and Policies: Extensive Knowledge of organizational standards, procedures and policies in manufacturing activities; ability to plan, guide, and monitor manufacturing processes for compliance.
Problem Management Process - MFG: Extensive Knowledge of manufacturing problem management processes, methodologies and techniques; ability to use a disciplined approach to bringing that problem to a successful resolution.

$87,480.00 - $131,280.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
