Job Summary
Caterpillar has an opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer. In this role, you will act as a specialist for a specific technical phase of the planning function, typically within key areas such as planning, tooling, maintenance, release, machine shop, assembly, etc., wherever a specific technical task is required. You will provide expertise in specific machining manufacturing process areas to ensure the most efficient and cost‑effective production of the product, as well as the execution of continuous improvement processes.
What the candidate will do
This role serves as a technical specialist within the planning function across areas such as release, numerical controls (NC) programming, processing, assembly processing, design, work standards, and manufacturing development.
The person in this position:
Evaluates projects to define desired outcomes, methods, and requirements (costs, personnel use, equipment, space, etc.).Conducts feasibility studies to determine suitability and profitability, providing recommendations for managerial decision‑making.Helps identify the most efficient processes, methods, machinery, tools, equipment, and systems needed for product manufacturing.Typical Work Assignments
Assignments may include:
Assessing and acquiring new or replacement machine tools.Aligning capital forecasts with new product introductions, capacity increases, machine replacements, or method improvements.Substituting materials or standardizing similar parts to reduce material and machining costs.Analyzing tool failures and evaluating tool requirements.Designing plant and office layouts to optimize space usage during reorganizations, new processes, or expansions.Planning and implementing assembly processes aligned with CPPD (Concurrent Product and Process Development) and NPI design changes.The position may encompass planning, tooling, maintenance, plant engineering, machine shop, assembly, and more.

Education requirement:

Ability to effectively develop and manage project plans from concept to production.Manufacturing Processes
Machining process knowledge (essential).Familiarity with manufacturing processes, suppliers, etc.Problem Solving
Ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and process partners.Ideal candidates will have:
Working knowledge in project management.Strong analytical skills introducing new components from concept to production, RCCA methodology, and a continuous improvement culture.Knowledge of Creo/NX, Tolerance Stack‑up, and GD&T.Ability to work on/lead multiple projects simultaneously and make sound priority decisions.A sense of urgency balanced with a strong commitment to quality.Additional Details:
This position is located in Cienega de Flores.
Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Any relocation costs incurred would be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
This position will require up to 10% travel.
The work schedule is set for Monday to Friday 6:24 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
