Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
We are seeking a dedicated and innovative Manufacturing Engineer to oversee and ensure the continuous operation of our ballistic helmet manufacturing processes. This role requires a proactive individual who can adeptly identify, troubleshoot, and resolve line stoppage issues to drive process stability and efficiency. The position is crucial for supporting second-shift production goals and involves working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
Monitor and respond to line stoppages in manufacturing processes.Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.Collaborate with production supervisors and operators to maintain throughput and quality standards.Update and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and troubleshooting guides.Support continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean and Kaizen to enhance process efficiency.Coordinate with maintenance and controls engineering for equipment-related issues.Develop specifications for tooling, equipment, parts, or materials in collaboration with vendors.Assist operations in estimating staffing requirements, production times, and relative costs.Design, develop, and implement fixtures and tooling to ensure low defect levels and low product cost.Create and maintain accurate documentation of tool drawings and equipment design concepts.Provide engineering support to the production department to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems.Lead the implementation of new, changed, or improved products into manufacturing.Essential Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.Ability to troubleshoot production processes and equipment.Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and root cause analysis tools.Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with composite material manufacturing.Familiarity with automated assembly systems and PLC-controlled equipment.Proficiency in CAD software (Solidworks) for fixture or tooling adjustments.Exposure to TPS/Kaizen methodologies.Hands-on experience with process optimization and continuous improvement projects.Work Environment
This role is based in a recently remodeled facility with an extremely clean manufacturing environment. The facility includes a game room area for employee relaxation. The position is strictly for the second shift (1-9pm), and involves 80% of the time on the floor and 20% at the desk. Employees are expected to help set up custom equipment pieces, bond plastic, and install Velcro. The manufacturing environment is fast-paced and focuses on producing high-quality head protection systems for critical missions. Candidates should be prepared for some ambiguity in processes and will work collaboratively with team members to refine and define procedures.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cleveland, OH.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $41.00 - $46.00/hr.
