Manufacturing Engineer
Job Title: Manufacturing EngineerJob Description

The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for a blend of manufacturing engineering tasks and overseeing production during off-shifts. The role involves collaborating with manufacturing leaders to review production floor performance, facilitating planning, scheduling, setup, and execution of manufacturing activities. The engineer will lead material dispersal and distribution for manufacturing and ensure labor and material requirements meet daily schedules. This position is ideal for a strong leader with experience in an automotive manufacturing environment, and availability to support manufacturing teams during off-shifts. The role requires approximately 70%-80% floor presence, suitable for those drawn to hands-on work.

ResponsibilitiesMaintain manufacturing production processes by observing process volumes and recommending improvements.Monitor progress, expedite material flow, and resolve work result issues.Improve manufacturing process workflow by eliminating stoppages and analyzing delays.Test new methods to enhance efficiency.Record manufacturing production through daily shift reports, calculating yields and recoveries.Maintain process flow by communicating production status, requirements, and issues to the next shift.Comply with the terms of the collective bargaining agreement to maintain working relationships with the union.Ensure a safe, secure, and healthy manufacturing environment by adhering to organizational standards and policies.Contribute to manufacturing processes and organizational success.Oversee manufacturing outcomes by selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, and counseling associates.Present job expectations, plan, monitor, and appraise job contributions while adhering to policies and procedures.Essential SkillsEngineering Degree or strong leadership experience with cross-functional engineering roles.Engineering experience in an automotive manufacturing environment, preferably 2+ years.General understanding of assembly or machining processes.Leadership or supervision experience.High interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.Preference for working on the manufacturing floor rather than desk-based tasks.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience working with unions is advantageous.Work Environment

The role involves reporting to a supervisor and working as part of a larger team of 35 individuals, including three other engineers. The position requires 45 hours of work per week, with a potential increase to 50 hours during busy periods. The job is primarily floor-based (70%-80%) and involves production support, root cause analysis, and disassembling products. The facility manufactures axles for heavy-duty trucks at the Three Rivers location. Shift hours are 2pm-10pm, with potential for a 30-minute early start or late finish for shift handoff.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Three Rivers, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $38.46/hr.
