Manufacturing Engineer
Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer Job Description The Manufacturing Engineer plays a crucial role in supporting manufacturing by developing and implementing optimal, cost-effective processes and methods. This role ensures compliance with product specifications and quality standards while recommending and implementing improvements to equipment, production processes, methods, and controls. Responsibilities + Draft and revise designs using Siemens NX software, including third angle projection and tolerance blocks. + Collaborate with the forming department to calculate flat pattern dimensions for aluminum, titanium, and steel. + Create detailed flat patterns and provide .dxf files to the punch and milling departments. + Generate PDF dimensional drawings from customer-provided CAD files using Siemens NX software. + Review and verify parts lists, specifications, material notes, and critical material requirements. + Create detailed routing steps for production and update them in the E2 system as needed. + Work with processing vendors to approve masking locations for primer and topcoat applications. + Submit detailed critical frozen planning to customers for approval and review outside process routers. + Apply knowledge of NDT procedures and specs, including penetrant and ultrasonic inspection. + Read and apply GD&T IAW ASME Y14.5-2009 for inspection purposes. + Order material stock sizes based on operation numbers and machinist input. + Address production issues with customers and collaborate with MRB, engineering, quality, and procurement departments. + Prepare bid packages, establish part pricing, and gather material, tooling, and process costs. + Estimate cycle and setup times to optimize part production efficiency. Essential Skills + Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline is preferred. + 1-2 years of manufacturing or mechanical engineering experience. + Proficiency in using Siemens NX, Solidworks, Auto Desk, and MasterCam. + Experience in sheet metal and machining. + Knowledge of process control (SPC) and lean systems. + Understanding of aerospace customer requirements. + Strong problem-solving abilities and excellent communication skills. + Ability to read blueprints and strong math skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Quoting experience is preferred. + Familiarity with AS9100 and AS9102 procedures. + Experience with heat treating specifications for various metals. + Knowledge of protective finishes for aluminum alloys, CRES, steel, and titanium. Work Environment The role involves working in a climate-controlled office environment with time spent at a computer screen. It also requires visits to manufacturing areas, which may include exposure to high noise levels in plants or engineering departments. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Los Angeles, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $135000.00/yr.
