Manual Machinist
Job Overview
We are looking for a skilled Manual Machinist to join our machine shop team. In this role, you will manufacture precision parts for our product line using a variety of manual machining equipment. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands‑on machining, problem‑solving, and working from blueprints to create quality parts.
Responsibilities
Operate manual machining equipment including drill presses, surface grinders, Bridgeport mills, and manual lathes
Read and interpret blueprints and specifications to produce parts accurately
Measure and inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, and other precision tools
Maintain machines and keep a clean, organized, and safe work area
Work collaboratively with team members to meet production goals
Required Skills and Experience
Experience with manual machining processes
Ability to read and understand blueprints
Hands‑on experience with surface grinding and Bridgeport mills
Comfortable using micrometers, calipers, and other measuring tools
Strong attention to detail and quality
Additional Skills a Plus
CNC machining experience is helpful but not required
Experience with Blanchard grinders, honing, duplex mills, gun drills, or manual lathes

Work Schedule and Environment
Hours are 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. You’ll be working in a well‑equipped machine shop with manual machining, CNC equipment, and assembly operations, alongside a close‑knit team of approximately 16 employees.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Rockford, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00/hr.
