Seeking a highly skilled and visionary Software Engineering Manager to lead highly skilled engineers to build a robust next gen data platform. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical and functional expertise in Big Data, Data Warehousing, and end-to-end real-time data movement. You will architect and build Caterpillar’s state-of-the-art digital platform, while driving innovation in AI and advanced analytics.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ **Team Leadership & Management**
+ Lead, mentor, and manage a team of data engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
+ Set clear goals, provide regular feedback, and support career development for team members.
+ Drive agile practices and ensure timely delivery of high-quality solutions.
+ **Technical Strategy & Architecture**
+ Architect and oversee the development of scalable, robust data platforms and infrastructure.
+ Design and implement end-to-end near real-time data movement solutions.
+ Ensure best practices in data engineering, including data modeling, ETL/ELT, and data governance.
+ **Big Data & Data Warehousing**
+ Lead the design and implementation of Big Data processing frameworks and Data Warehousing solutions.
+ Build and maintain large-scale data lakes and data pipelines for structured and unstructured data.
+ Optimize data storage, retrieval, and processing for performance and reliability.
+ **Cloud & Platform Expertise**
+ Experience deploying software using CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps preferred, Jenkins/AWS CloudFormation).
+ Leverage cloud-native services for data ingestion, transformation, and analytics.
+ Ensure security, scalability, and cost-effectiveness of cloud data architectures.
+ **AI & Advanced Analytics**
+ Stay abreast of the latest developments in AI, including Generative AI, MCP, ATA, and related technologies.
+ Collaborate with Data Scientists and ML Engineers to build production-ready AI solutions.
+ Promote the integration of AI and analytics into data engineering workflows.
+ **Stakeholder Engagement**
+ Work closely with business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver data solutions that drive business value.
+ Communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences and influence decision-making.
**Must-Have Skills**
+ Proven experience in Big Data processing and Data Warehousing.
+ Expertise in building end-to-end near real-time data pipelines for OLTP & OLAP.
+ Strong architecture exposure for building robust Data Platforms.
+ Strong expertise in SQL and NoSQL databases
+ Experience in designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining software at scale, with a strong understanding of concurrency
+ Strong analytical skills and solid knowledge of computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design).
+ Passion for technology and a commitment to fostering a team-oriented environment.
+ Deep exposure to Azure and AWS cloud platforms.
+ Good understanding of AI concepts and latest developments (Gen AI, MCP, ATA, etc.).
**Nice-to-Have Skills**
+ Knowledge of the Nvidia ecosystem and its applications in data and AI.
+ Experience building production-ready AI solutions.
+ Familiarity with modern data visualization and BI tools.
**Qualifications**
+ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
+ 8+ years of experience in data engineering, with at least 2+ years in a leadership or managerial role.
+ Demonstrated success in managing large engineering teams and delivering complex data solutions.
+ Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
Relocation is available for this position.
