As a Manager Refinery Safety Affairs you will direct and support refinery safety efforts with responsibility for analyzing, trending, managing, and communicating safety and health data across Valero’s refining system. Serve as a company’s subject matter expert for safety data systems, databases, dashboards, and reporting tools, ensuring that actionable insights are delivered to leadership and operations. Develop strong working relationships with operations and corporate support groups to reinforce Valero’s commitment to safety excellence, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement. Also help promote safety management systems and VPP. Provides occupational safety and industrial hygiene expertise to operations personnel to help assure regulatory compliance.

•Support and promote safety management systems and VPP.
•Develop and coordinate the creation of Valero safety standards, programs, and practices to drive improved safety performance.
•Lead the collection, management, analysis, and trending of safety and health data across the refining system.
•Develop, maintain, and enhance safety databases, dashboards, scorecards, and reporting tools to communicate key metrics, emerging risks, and performance trends.
•Design clear, compelling visual displays and presentations of safety data tailored to executive leadership, operations, and site HS teams.
•Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness; troubleshoots system issues and leads improvements to data workflows.
•Works with Operations, Process Safety, Environmental, and Legal departments to ensure consistent corporate safety and health policies and procedures.
•Monitors and participates in the legislative and regulatory development process; communicates action plans to leadership and business units.
•Participates in significant incident investigations; assists in regulatory inspections and investigations at business units.
•Assists in developing safety audit and assessment criteria; monitors site compliance with corporate policies and regulatory standards.
•Provides site safety support as needed.
•Assists operating facilities in implementing corporate standards, best practices, and other program needs.
•Serves as liaison between sites, Legal, and Risk Management during litigation support activities.
This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.
