We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Manager of Brand Strategy and Marketing 2 to join our Brand Experience team. This individual will develop and drive some of Northrop Grumman’s highest priority and most visible brand communications and campaigns that advance our brand and reputation as a technology leader.
This person will lead the enterprise brand strategy and marketing team and work closely across the communications organization to deepen our brand story, expand our presence in unexpected ways, and deliver measurable impact.
This position is preferred to be located in Falls Church, VA, but is also open to the DMV Washington metro area, including Linthicum, MD, and Baltimore, MD. This role reports to the Senior Manager of Enterprise and Talent Brand Strategy and Marketing.
This position plays a pivotal role in shaping and activating the future of our brand. The ideal candidate has deep brand management experience, a keen creative eye, an understanding of audience behavior, and the ability to design marketing strategies that spark meaningful connections. They will be a strategic leader, a cross-functional collaborator, and a champion of integrated brand marketing efforts that enhance visibility and build trust.
Key Responsibilities:
Brand Strategy Development:
Lead the development and execution of comprehensive brand strategies that align to business goals
Shape and refine brand messaging, positioning, architecture, and naming in collaboration with senior leadership
Partner with creative teams to manage brand expression, ensuring a consistent look and feel across channels and experiences
Define and drive adoption of brand strategy and story across enterprise offerings
Marketing Campaign Management:
Develop and execute enterprise brand campaigns and tactical marketing strategies tied to business objectives
Partner with internal stakeholders to craft cohesive, audience-first marketing experiences
Develop advertising strategies that support sector and enterprise priorities, ensuring consistent messaging across audiences
Oversee media strategy and AdTech strategy, ensuring effective utilization of marketing technologies and media channels
Lead multi-channel marketing campaigns (digital, social, print, OOH, and experiential), optimizing for reach, resonance, and ROI.
Collaborate with internal teams (creative, content, social, PR, internal communications, events, sector program communication teams) and external agencies to produce compelling content and breakthrough campaigns
Bring creativity and rigor to strategy discussions, helping stakeholders and partners translate business needs into brand-building work
Partner with external agencies and internal teams to produce compelling creative content that resonates with target audiences
Lead creative, strategy-driven conversations with internal stakeholders and external agencies
Monitor and analyze campaign performance, making data-driven adjustments to improve outcomes and maximize impact
Strategic Planning and Analysis:
Partner with the Measurement and Insights team on market research and competitive analyses to identify trends, opportunities, and challenges
Maintain awareness of communications trends inside and outside the aerospace and defense industry to help guide decision-making
Develop brand marketing plans and forecasts aligned with enterprise business strategies
Evaluate brand marketing effectiveness and recommend improvements based on insight and analysis
Leadership and Collaboration:
Lead, inspire, and develop a team of brand and marketing professionals
Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing strategic counsel on brand and marketing initiatives
Strengthen cross-functional partnerships to ensure unified brand expression across the organization
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Communications, Marketing) with a minimum of ten (10) years of related experience (e.g., brand strategy, brand management, marketing, brand communications) OR Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Communications, Marketing) with a minimum of eight (8) years of related experience (e.g., brand strategy, brand management, marketing, brand communications)
Proven experience leading and managing a team
Demonstrated success developing and executing successful brand and marketing campaigns
Expertise in brand architecture, creative strategy, messaging, and naming
Strong judgment and ability to remain agile in a fast-moving environment with rapidly shifting priorities
Proven experience in building productive working relationships with functional and/or business leaders
Ability to simplify complex information into clear, actionable strategies
Analytical mindset with a strong grasp of measurement and marketing performance
Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field
Strong understanding of media strategy and optimization across all types of media
Excellent collaboration and presentation skills as well as the ability to effectively interface with and influence all levels of management
Experience leading and mentoring individuals in their professional development
Ability to support and enhance strong communications standards, workflows and branding guidelines
Experience managing creative agency partnerships
Advertising or branding agency experience
Budget management experience
Exhibits a pioneering approach to push boundaries and develop creative solutions and capabilities to drive brand leadership
Salary Range: $129,300.00 - $193,900.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
