The Manager Marketplace, Operations Excellence will manage and lead a team who owns and drives end-to-end operational excellence across marketplace fulfilment channels in Amazon South Africa.
This role is accountable for improving key customer-facing and seller-facing fulfilment metrics, leading programs that materially impact performance, and partnering closely with Product, Tech, Operations, and external stakeholders to deliver scalable, sustainable improvements.
The role spans all marketplace fulfilment channels with responsibility for performance management, program execution, and feature identification that improves speed, reliability, and customer experience across these channels. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, highly analytical and detail-oriented, possess superior inter personal and communication skills, and have experience managing a team of operational specialists.
Key job responsibilities
Defining clear performance targets aligned to customer and business goals
Deep-dive analysis of metric drivers, trends, and root causes
Building mechanisms (weekly/monthly reviews) to inspect and improve performance
Driving corrective actions with sellers, internal teams, and partners
Manage and develop a team to deliver on operational goals in the Marketplace business.
Program Ownership & Operational Excellence -
Lead and scale programmatic initiatives that directly contribute to fulfilment performance, including:
Speed improvement programs across the 3P network.
Call scheduling processes and operational cadence that improve execution and predictability.
Tool and feature adoption across fulfilment channels.
AI adoption and automation initiatives to drive process efficiency, defect reduction, and faster decision-making.
Continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
Oversee our third-party inbound transportation program that help sellers transport stock to our FCs easily.
Reduce seller defects through specific education and enforcement programs.
Ensure we have scalable mechanisms for supporting account managers and sellers to solve operational challenges.
Product & Feature Development
Identify product and system features that will materially improve fulfilment metrics and seller/customer experience:
Drive product improvements for across all channels with a focus on FBA to improve adoption and seller experience.
Build data-backed business cases and requirements for new features or enhancements.
Partner closely with Product Managers, Tech, and Engineering to prioritize, design, and deliver features across fulfilment.
Own launch readiness, adoption plans, and post-launch performance tracking.
Cross-Functional Leadership
Act as a single-threaded owner for 3P fulfilment ops excellence across multiple stakeholders.
Influence without authority across Operations, Product, Tech, Seller Experience, and regional/global teams.
Communicate clearly at all levels, from operational teams to senior leadership.
