Manager for Global Partnerships
**Job Description** UW Global is the University of Washington's gateway to international engagement. We connect faculty, students, and staff with global opportunities in teaching, research, and learning -- fostering cross-cultural understanding, collaboration, and innovation. To facilitate these functions, UW Global has five main areas of responsibility: development and coordination of strategic initiatives, including in the key areas of global health, global environment, global technology, global development challenges, and global cultural change; support for international research; management of UW international relations and protocols; administration of study abroad; and oversight of UW's centers and offices abroad. This UW Global position will require the candidate to work in the office with limited remote work options. The **Manager for Global Partnerships** will lead the planning and execution of activities related to engagement with global partners. In order to effectively manage this position's duties, the Manager must keep track of numerous moving projects and relationships at once. This person must have the following expertise: + Managing global partnerships and developing ideas for strengthening partnerships under the guidance of the VP and AVP + Managing a portfolio of projects from start to finish and overseeing international agreements for a large complex institution. + Ability to conduct in-depth research + Ability to write clear, concise, and compelling letters, briefing materials and develop first drafts of complex partnership proposals and agreements. + Exercising high-level independent judgement and diplomacy; making decisions that accurately reflect the interest and intent of the Vice Provost and Associate Vice Provost + Utilizing critical thinking and assessment skills to streamline workflow and increase efficiencies + Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well within a team and foster productive and positive relationships. + May need to attend occasional meetings and events outside of business hours. **POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES** Play a leadership role in connecting UW Global with Global Partners (60%) + Coordinate with external stakeholders in furthering UW Global goals and strategic priorities, and in implementing new initiatives with a particular focus on international university partners and locally based global leaders (e.g. Consulates, Seattle International Affairs Advisory Board, Greater Seattle Partners). + Provide direction, materials, and coordination for global delegations with the goal of creating stronger global university partners. + Develop plans and initiatives that further global university partnerships. + Represent the VP and/or AVP at meetings with key external stakeholders when they are not available. + Identify and implement best practices for follow-up with individuals/organizations to maintain and increase engagement. + Cultivate relationships and build a network of strong partners and advocates. + Where appropriate or needed supervise or deploy staff on related projects. + Coordinate with members of the UW Global team to ensure global partnerships are aligned and support internal partnerships and initiatives. Provide direction and oversight for management of UW international agreements (25%) + Manage and oversee international MOUs and partnership agreements ensuring that they are up to date and reflect the interests of the institution. + As necessary seek counsel and approval of the Office of the Attorney General and/or Special Assistant Attorney General(s) regarding legal matters for international initiative and partnership agreements. Develop new modes of agreement as needed to support global initiatives at UW. + Work with departments across campus to support their international agreement needs. + Connect and consider how agreements may support or inform the University’s goals. Other Duties as Assigned (15%) **MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS** A Bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience in higher education, international affairs, and development.
