Northrop Grumman’s Defense Systems is looking for an Embedded Software Engineering Manager Level 2 located in Northridge, CA. This role will be supporting some of our most advanced programs to include ARRGM/ER and the SiAW. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.
This Embedded Software Engineering Manager role will be approximately 75% program & technical work and approximately 25% functional management work managing a segment of a program or a function. This role is responsible for the direct supervision & management of embedded software staff, and for providing objective-oriented directions to subordinates utilizing management guidelines & general policies. This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Addressing cost, schedule, technical performance, and quality of a work package, subsystem, or related group of work packages on a large system development-type contract or full responsibility for all aspects of program performance on a large delivery order or mid-size technical services-type contractAssignments received in objective oriented termsFull working knowledge of procedures and practicesOverseeing projects and tasks assigned to the organizational groupInterpreting and executing policies and procedures that directly impact team performance, morale, and effectivenessRecommending modifications to operating policiesEnsuring that projects are completed on schedule and within budgetFunctioning as an advisor to team members regarding tasks, projects, and operationsFrequent contacts with internal personnel and outside customer representatives at various management levels concerning operations or scheduling or specific phases of projects or contractsConducting briefings and participating in technical meetings for internal/external representativesBasic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree of Science in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math - or related technical area) with 8+ years of Software related experience – OR – Master’s degree of Science in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math - or related technical area) with 6+ years of Software related experienceExperience in requirements analysis, modeling and simulation, embedded software development, and verification and validation at subsystem and system levelMust have a high proficiency in technical problem solving to include decomposition, root cause analysis, solution development, implementation and control account monitoringDemonstrated software engineering, controls, or systems engineering leadership experience, preferably with experience in Space Flight Software or Simulation Software.Ability to form strong partnerships to ensure lockstep coordination with adjacent discipline areas and program manager leadership.Active U.S. Government Secret Clearance to start (citizenship required)Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated excellence in a technical leadership/management role with 15+ team membersExperience with Earned Value ManagementWorking knowledge of Staffing, Engineering Metrics and Training resources, processes, and toolsDemonstrated excellence in requirements analysis, modeling and simulation, verification and validation at subsystem and system level or Demonstrated vehicle development, mission systems integration, ground and flight test validation experienceExperience in successfully developing and integrating software and hardware solutions for space applicationsExperience in system and subsystem specification development including verification methodologiesExperience implementing action plans based on metrics and/or root cause/corrective actionsHands-on technical experience with spacecraft or satellite related systemsProven experience leading technically diverse teams, possibly across multiple locationsExperience with Space Flight Software, Simulation SoftwarePrimary Level Salary Range: $161,000.00 - $241,700.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
