Function Description
Card & Merchant Accounting and Controls (CMAC) team part of Global Financial Operations, Controllership, manages the foundational accounting for Card Member spend, Remittances and Merchant payments along with various other operational accounting processes that is core to a Credit Card domain.This team is the last line of defense and liaisons with broader controllership, technology / product, and Global Service Group (GSG) / servicing teams to ensure financial integrity of various accounting processes embedded in Issuer and Acquirer businesses.How will you make an impact in this role?
The B35 leader role oversees the financial integrity of the AR Card Capture Accounting process for the company by managing a team responsible for accounting, governance, and the financial accuracy of the Balance Sheet Accounts and Ledgers. The position requires extensive knowledge of AR, Network and Remittance systems, accounting process and will interface with multiple business partners. This position will play a critical role to govern Accounting related to Card AR platforms and AMEX Network sources, Manage Sale of Receivable process between various Card Issuing entities and CREDCO, manage balance Sheet ledgers related to Card Accounts Receivable and Amex Internal Spend accounting. The incumbent should be able to lead and support various projects which would involve assessing impact to AR process and working across finance teams.
Responsible for maintaining financial integrity of ledgers for Card Member Accounts receivables.Lead a team responsible for accounting, research & clearance to maintain financial integrity of AR processProvide SME accounting expertise on various enterprise and technology projects impacting AR, Network & remittance accounting and controlsPartner with Key stakeholders in Market / LE / Segment controllership, Treasury, Technology, Automation COE & GFII on new business initiatives, automation, new system implementation etc.Work closely with Finance and Treasury partners to design and implement solution in POA platform- FODLLead conversation with technology, CREDCO controllership and Treasury teams to incorporate impacts on introduction of new lending capabilities (Plan IT)Be able to contribute to the team strategy and long-term plans and proactively highlight, communicate and mitigate risksDemonstrate effective proactiveness, transformational mindset as well as strong analytical skills.Ability to drive self and team goals with continuous focus on process improvement and strengthening documentation and control environmentIdentify simplification and automation opportunities and work towards implementing them.Manage the associated PRSA and controls, ensure robust control environment around the process. Compliance with AXP policies, US GAAP requirementsAbility to communicate effectively with senior leaders across the organization and build relationships.Ensuring seamless Month Close / Quarter Close Process.Minimum Qualifications
The incumbent should either be Chartered Accountant or an MBA from a premier institute with at least 5+ years of post-qualification experience or a graduate with at least 8 years of experience.Job requires good accounting knowledge, AXP AR, Network, Loyalty & Remittance systems knowledge, people management, relationship building and flair for using technology tools to drive process efficiency and automation.Prior hands-on experience with Oracle General Ledger, AR/AP system accounting, FAH rules management, managing large enterprise projectsProven ability to lead, train, develop and manage a high performing team.Analytical skills, ability to understand the linkages to processes.Excellent team player with strong Inter-Personal skills and communication skillsPreferred Qualifications
Strong results orientation, lateral thinking, project management and co-ordination abilities.Must have excellent communication, interpersonal skills and be able to interact independently with senior business partners / customers.Ability to use analytical tools for financial systems such as Oracle, IRIS, OBIEE, Essbase, Cornerstone, BI tools, etc.
