Northrop Grumman is hiring a Manager of AI Engineering to lead the AI Infrastructure Engineering team within the Insights & Intelligence (i2) organization. This role will report to the Senior Manager of Platforms and Automation. This role is based in Falls Church, VA and hybrid and/or remote options will be considered for the right candidate.
Insights & Intelligence (i2) is reimagining decision making at Northrop Grumman. As part of our Chief Information & Digital Office (CIDO), i2 works with all enterprise domains and businesses to drive our data, analytics & AI transformation.
As the AI and Analytics Platform manager you will manage a team of DevOps and AI Systems Engineers that maintain, modify, and implement infrastructure, API Gateways, and cloud solutions in support of our AI and Analytics strategy. This position requires a split between technical and functional management duties.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Design and implement systems capable of scaling to meet growing data and computation demands in AI applications.
Develop and execute a strategic vision for AI infrastructure that aligns with organizational goals.
Oversee the execution and delivery of items on the AI infrastructure roadmap, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
Establish metrics to evaluate the performance and reliability of AI infrastructure and implement improvements based on findings.
Ensure that the AI infrastructure complies with relevant regulations and security standards, implementing necessary controls
Track advancements in AI technologies and infrastructure trends and evaluate applicability to the organization’s strategy.
Work alongside data scientists, software engineers, and i2 functional teams to integrate AI solutions into existing systems and processes.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors or advanced Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems or a related field
Must have 8 years of relevant experience with a Bachelors Degree OR 6 Years of relevant experience with a Masters Degree.
At least 5 years' experience maintaining infrastructure in support of data or AI tools
At least 5 years' experience implementing the back-end infrastructure for COTS or SaaS platforms
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience managing cross-functional teams and guiding stakeholder collaboration
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
Experience in managing vendor relationships and negotiating contracts or service agreements.
AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification or higher
Previous experience leading a team of 5-12 employees
Primary Level Salary Range: $142,200.00 - $234,700.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
