At Merrimack Health, we are committed to pay transparency and equity. The base salary range is $62.36- $93.53/hr, excluding fringe benefits and potential bonuses.
Your final base salary will be determined based on your education, experience, licensure, and internal equity considerations. Offers are typically made below the top of the range to support future salary growth.
Job Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Manager, Total Rewards is responsible for leading the design, development, and administration of the organization’s total rewards strategy. This role oversees all components of total rewards, including base and variable compensation, benefits, leave administration, equity programs, wellness initiatives, and rewards programs. The Manager will lead the strategic design and effective administration of these programs to ensure competitiveness, regulatory compliance, and a positive employee experience.
Duties and Responsibilities
Manage the design, administration, and communication of comprehensive benefits programs, including health & welfare plans, retirement plans, well‑being initiatives, and leave programs, ensuring competitiveness, compliance, and exceptional employee support. Evaluate, optimize, and oversee vendor and partner relationships to ensure high‑quality service delivery, cost‑effective plan performance, and strong value for employees and the organization. Lead compensation program design and administration, including base pay, incentive plans, annual compensation cycles, salary benchmarking, job architecture, and market analysis to ensure alignment with business goals and market trends. Provide expert guidance to leaders on compensation and benefits decisions, including salary recommendations, promotions, internal equity, benefits issues, and contract‑covered provisions. Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to benefits, compensation, leaves, and equity programs (e.g., ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA), as well as applicable collective bargaining agreements. Develop and support reward, recognition, and total rewards strategies that promote employee engagement, well‑being, and a positive workplace culture.Education and Related Experience
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, finance or comparable degree program. Eight to Ten (8-10) years of progressive Total Rewards experience in a complex environment; minimum of three (3) years in a management capacity. Hands-on experience working in a union environment and/or experience with labor negotiations. Strong business acumen and leadership skills. Exceptional organizational skills are a necessity. Solid understanding of all relevant regulatory laws and requirements. Excellent interpersonal skills and confidence in building positive relationships and work collaboratively at all levels. Ability to adjust to shifting priorities in a fast-paced working environment. Strong listening and communication skills (both verbal and written), with proven ability to maintain confidentiality. Strong attention to detail, project management skills, timely execution, and excellent follow-though. Knowledge and experience HRIS (ADP or general HR technology systems) and MS Office. Advanced Excel knowledge. Ability to work on site with frequent, local travel to each hospital. Flexibility to attend outside office hour events and on occasion support 2nd and 3rd shift management and staff.Preferred:
Master’s degree in human resources management, business administration or related field.
