THE ROLE
We are seeking a people-focused and results-oriented Manager to lead our Business Intelligence (BI) Developers and Quality Assurance (QA) professionals. This role centers on building a high-performing team culture, guiding career development, and ensuring the delivery of trusted, high-quality BI solutions across the organization. Reporting to a Sr. Manager in the Data Engineering and BI team, the Manager will balance coaching and mentorship with operational oversight, ensuring BI initiatives are scalable, secure, and aligned with business priorities.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Lead and Develop the Team – Manage, mentor, and inspire a blended team of BI Developers and QA Engineers. Provide coaching, performance feedback, and career development opportunities to foster growth and engagement.
Drive Quality Assurance Excellence – Oversee all QA practices, including requirements traceability, test planning, regression testing, automation, and validation of data/reporting standards. Champion quality-first practices across all BI deliverables.
Ensure Reliable BI Delivery – Support the team in designing, developing, testing, and deploying Power BI dashboards, tabular models, and analytics solutions.
Foster Collaboration – Partner with the BI Lead and business stakeholders to prioritize work, remove blockers, and translate business needs into clear and actionable deliverables.
Set Standards and Best Practices – Establish and enforce processes for code versioning, peer reviews, governance, documentation, and knowledge sharing.
Maintain Operational Stability – Oversee monitoring and incident management for BI systems, ensuring timely resolution of issues affecting data quality or reporting performance.
Plan for Growth – Lead workforce planning, hiring, and onboarding to scale the team in alignment with evolving business needs.
Promote Continuous Improvement – Encourage innovation, collaboration, and a proactive approach to process improvement across BI and QA functions.
Ensure Compliance and Governance – Safeguard adherence to security, data governance, and audit requirements in all development and testing efforts.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
We want you to join our team! Here’s what we’re looking for:
Experience & Skills
6+ years in BI development, data engineering, or analytics, including 2+ years in a people management or team leadership role.
Strong background in managing QA processes for BI solutions, including both manual and automated testing approaches.
Hands-on experience with Power BI, DAX, SQL, and AAS/SSAS tabular models; exposure to Snowflake, Databricks, or Azure BI stack is a plus.
Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing teams, with a track record of coaching, mentoring, and professional development.
Strong organizational and project management skills, capable of managing multiple priorities and initiatives.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to connect technical detail to business value.
Solid understanding of security principles such as role-based access, least privilege, and audit tracking.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field.
Advanced degrees or certifications in Power BI, Azure, or QA methodologies are a plus.
