Job Description: The Sourcing Manager is responsible for ensuring the successful sourcing, development and delivery of high-quality, competitively priced products that meet customer, regulatory and quality standards. This includes managing supplier negotiations, sampling and artwork approval, while coordinating cross-functionally with manufacturing, operations, regulatory and inventory management to support smooth product introduction and ongoing supply. The position plays a critical role in balancing cost, quality and availability by evaluating sourcing options, addressing product or quality issues and mitigating risks from market or industry disruptions. By maintaining strong supplier relationships and negotiating effectively, the role ensures Owens & Minor’s proprietary products remain competitive and aligned with customer needs.
The anticipated pay range for this role is as follows: $110k-120k annually. The actual compensation offered may vary based on job related factors such as experience, skills, education and location.
Core Responsibilities:
Own the sourcing strategy and execution for assigned product categories, delivering measurable cost savings, total cost of ownership improvements and supply assurance while maintaining quality and regulatory standards.
Lead commercial and strategic supplier negotiations, leveraging market intelligence and cross-functional input to optimize pricing, terms, capacity and long-term value.
Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders, influencing outcomes across Product Management, Quality, Regulatory, Operations, Inventory Management and the Tactical Sourcing team.
Drive sourcing decisions using a total cost and risk-based lens, balancing unit cost, logistics, inventory, quality, lead times, resilience and regulatory complexity.
Lead risk identification and adversity planning, including supplier concentration, geopolitical exposure, capacity constraints and quality risks and develop mitigation plans to protect continuity of supply.
Oversee sampling, validation and artwork approval processes, ensuring readiness for production and alignment with customer and regulatory expectations.
Partner closely with Quality and Regulatory teams to resolve product or supplier issues, manage specification changes and support continuous quality improvement.
Monitor global supply markets, industry trends and disruption signals, translating insights into proactive sourcing actions and leadership recommendations.
Collaborate with Operations and Inventory Management to align sourcing decisions with production planning, service level targets, inventory optimization and substitution strategies.
Lead negotiations and mitigation strategies related to supplier cost increases, protecting Owens & Minor’s competitive position while preserving strategic supplier relationships.
Champion innovation and continuous improvement in sourcing approaches, supplier models and cross-functional ways of working.
Qualifying Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain or a related discipline, required.
Minimum, 9 years of professional experience and a minimum of 1 year of management/leadership experience
Experience working with suppliers and cross-functional stakeholders critical.
Exposure to international sourcing and regulated products.
Must have a flexible approach to work and be capable of handling multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy and excellent organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work with and empathize with colleagues and customers from varied backgrounds and cultures.
Ability to analyze information, draw conclusions and make sound and timely decisions.
