The Manager, Liquidity Risk Management and Treasury Operations role at Manulife Bank offers a strong opportunity for an experienced finance and treasury professional to support the bank’s profitability while managing liquidity risk within appetite. Reporting to the Director, Market Risk Management, the role ensures robust treasury processes and supports growth objectives. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in liquidity risk, advanced data analysis skills (including Excel), and prior experience leading a bank’s liquidity or interest rate risk function.
**Position Responsibilities:**
+ Lead liquidity risk management by overseeing the calibration and updating of risk models, reporting monthly and quarterly liquidity metrics to OSFI and the management team, and regularly reviewing the bank’s liquidity status to ensure accurate, forward-looking forecasts and maintain risks within the defined risk appetite.
+ Consult with the bank’s product and yield management teams and advise on pricing and product strategies as required while also execute Treasury funding and assist with the bank’s hedging program and execute interest rate swaps and bond forward transactions as required.
+ Manage the production of the monthly ALCO reporting package, ensuring consistency and completeness of key information, preparing accurate commentary to aid in understanding key risks, and reviewing and recommending updates to policies, procedures, and modeling assumptions to the treasury leadership team and ALCO.
+ Research and provide recommendations for process/policy changes related to key OSFI and other regulatory standards related to market risk, including (but not limited to) the OSFI Liquidity Adequacy Requirements (LAR) guideline.
+ Provide backup coverage to analysts responsible for monthly liquidity risk management reporting, cash management, rate changes, and reporting tasks, while also mentoring them to enhance their technical knowledge in market risk management concepts.
+ Engage with the Financial Risk Oversight team and support internal and external auditors to ensure that key policies, procedures, and modelling assumptions are subject to appropriate review and oversight.
+ Promote timely, data-driven decisions both within the Treasury Team and the larger Bank by driving operational efficiencies through automation using key technologies (Excel, VBA, SQL, Python).
+ Drive critical initiatives that will expand the Bank’s product and service offerings.
**Required Qualifications:**
+ Undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or another quantitative field.
+ Typically 5+ years experience working in a liquidity risk function in the banking sector is required.
+ Previous treasury operations experience would be considered a significant asset.
+ Proficiency in data analytics using advanced Excel features, and programing/coding skills (e.g. SQL, Power Apps, Python) would be considered a strong asset.
+ Accuracy, attention to detail and sound judgment are a must.
+ An standout team member with a proven ability to effectively manage internal relationships through collaboration within the department and across business divisions.
+ High degree of flexibility and creativity is required; must be able to adapt to a constantly changing environment and to develop and update financial procedures and processes to meet such changes.
+ Strong business insight with a good understanding of the business environment in order to provide meaningful analysis and recommendations to the Treasury leadership team and ALCO.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ CFA and/or FRM designation would be considered a significant asset.
+ Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills and the ability to work within a variety of group settings.
