Job Description

​​​​​The Manager, In-Theater Marketing oversees in‑theater marketing initiatives across all Universal Pictures and Focus Features titles. Specifically, managing campaign execution with domestic exhibitors, translating marketing strategy into compelling exhibitor marketing programs, while maintaining strong internal and external relationships.  The role is based in Universal City, California, and reports to the Vice President, In-Theater Marketing.

The position requires strong project management, organizational, presentation, negotiation, and problem‑solving skills, as well as a solid understanding of digital marketing and the exhibitor ecosystem.

While part of the Theatrical Distribution organization, the In-Theater Marketing team partners closely with the broader Universal marketing teams and exhibition partners to deliver innovative in‑theater marketing programs that drive awareness and engagement throughout the theatrical lifecycle.

Essential Responsibilities

Attend internal marketing meetings and synthesize in‑theater opportunities, key takeaways, and actionable next stepsManage multiple in‑theater marketing projects simultaneously, providing clear and consistent status updates to stakeholdersLead select in‑theater marketing initiatives for Universal Pictures and Focus Features under the VP of In‑Theatre MarketingBuild, update, and finalize campaign calendars, tracking documents, reports, and presentations to support project executionExecute exhibitor partnerships and in‑theater marketing campaigns aligned with strategic goals, creative direction, and budgetMaintain strong relationships with exhibition partners; pitch marketing concepts to secure opportunities and confirm programsCollaborate cross‑functionally with Creative, Publicity, Brand, International, Digital, and Experiential teams to drive cohesive campaignsDevelop high‑quality presentations and campaign decks using Keynote and PowerPointAnalyze exhibitor post‑campaign reports and box‑office data to inform future strategies and experiential opportunitiesLeverage historical and real‑time data (trailer impressions, CPM analysis, box‑office trends) to guide placement strategies and promotional effortsEnsure accuracy in campaign reporting and trailer placement auditsIdentify challenges proactively and develop solutions to maintain timelines and maximize marketing impactTrack and manage global in‑theater marketing assets, timelines, and initiatives across domestic and international teamsOversee cross‑regional workflows and ensure alignment on project status across teamsLead cinema partnerships with food and beverage brands and other exhibition‑space partners

Qualifications3 plus years of marketing experience, preferably in the theatrical or in‑theater spaceAdvanced Keynote and PowerPoint skills, with extensive experience building decks that support campaigns and storytellingAdvanced Excel skills and familiarity with analytics platforms such as Google Data Studio, Power BI, and MovieMeasure for campaign performance trackingAt least 1 year of experience negotiating with internal and external partners for marketing supportExperience using data visualization tools to present insights clearly to stakeholdersProven project management and analytical experience

Desired Characteristics:

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Cinematic Arts, or a related fieldStudio brand development or marketing experienceExperience working with cinema exhibitors or within the exhibition ecosystemFamiliarity with in‑theater media formats, experiential executions, and theatrical marketing timelinesExcellent verbal, written, and messaging communication skillsExperience with Google Studio or related Google marketing toolsProven success in fast‑paced, rapidly changing environments with the ability to pivot quicklyPassion for movie theaters and strong industry knowledgeStrong track record of collaboration and teamworkAbility to build and maintain positive relationships with exhibition partnersExperience in in‑theater marketing

Additional Requirements:

Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, contributing a minimum of four days a week.

Salary range: $80,000 - $105,000 (bonus eligible)
