This position is within the Corporate Accounting group with a focus on overseeing the fixed asset accounting for the Company. This role is seen as a subject matter expert for fixed assets. This role will be responsible for providing guidance and reviewing the activities of direct reports and ensuring strong internal controls while driving process improvements. The position is located in Phoenix, Arizona and reports directly to the Sr. Manager, Corporate Accounting.

Overview of Responsibilities
Create and define the Company’s fixed asset processes and policies.Act as the subject matter expert for fixed asset accountingEstablish working relationships with external departments to foster communication regarding changes and guidance triggersPartner with functional leads within the organization to build best practices within the departmentReview all journal entries from direct reports related to fixed asset activities (new additions, disposals, depreciation, etc.)Review reconciliation performed by direct reports of fixed assetsResponsible for reviewing and working with the facilities team to ensure construction in progress and transfer of assets to stores is timely and appropriateReview all period end and quarter end fixed asset and construction in progress reporting for management and financial reportingAssist with budget and forecasting functionsWork within a SOX-compliant environment and maintain appropriate controlsWork directly with the external and internal auditors on any requestsDevelop staff and monitor their work output
Qualifications
Lead a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timelinessExcellent written and verbal communication skills with all levels of the organizationExceptional analytical, problem identification and problem-solving skillsStrong accounting principles knowledge with the initiative to remain current on accounting and other regulatory changesRemains up to date on current GAAP guidance related to areas of responsibility; partners with Financial Reporting and Accounting management to identify and address technical accounting questionsExcellent documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysisOrganized and extremely detail orientedHolds self and others accountable for ensuring that results are achieved; seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision; acts on items beyond formal job responsibility; sets high expectations for self and others.Experience in the early stages of a high growth business preferred. Ability to both identify and remove barriers to progress or change.
Education and Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting requiredCPA designation preferredStrong understanding of US GAAP and internal controls requiredA minimum of seven years of progressive experience in public or private accountingProven leadership experience and mentoring skills, self-starter and team playerExperience with financial statement preparation, month end close, general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, budgeting/forecasting and variance analysis requiredExperience preparing or reviewing SEC filings preferredAdvanced competency in Excel and proficiency with other Microsoft Office suite productsExperience using ERP and reporting software preferred (i.e. Workday, ServiceChannel)Experience in grocery, retail, restaurant industries a plus#LI-MS1
