About The Role And Team
We are seeking a Data Scientist to lead our efforts in optimizing Performance Marketing business through advanced analytics and data science techniques. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data science, analytics, and has exposure to Paid Marketing, and will be responsible for driving experimentation, budget optimizations, defining KPIs as well as unlocking new growth opportunities.

ResponsibilityExecute end-to-end projects autonomously, from problem definition to the communication of actionable recommendations.Analyze eBay’s comprehensive datasets, deriving insights to diagnose root causes of trends and enhance the user experience.Construct machine learning models for predicting user behaviors and inferring marketing performance, supporting business decisions with reliable outputs.Quantify and optimize the performance of marketing initiatives based on data-driven insights, identifying key drivers and new opportunities by focusing on high-impact metrics. Conduct deep-dive analyses into campaign performance to determine efficacy and underlying causal factors.Mine data to optimize marketing campaigns, revenue growth, and the customer experience, including customer segmentation analysis for audience understanding.Formulate strategies for channel optimization and content development.Design, develop, and implement experimentation frameworks, such as A/B testing and uplift modeling, to rigorously measure marketing effectiveness.Develop and implement solutions for Marketing Attribution (MTA).Provide data infrastructure support, including the design of self-service tools, dashboards, and related assets.Communicate business performance metrics to stakeholders clearly, concisely, and insightfully.Develop, refine, and systematize reporting to ensure clarity and accuracy. Streamline existing processes and implement opportunities for automation and efficiency gains, leading the automation of recurring tasks.The role involves translating complex business challenges into a scientific formulation suitable for an AI/Analytics Product solution. This individual will define requirements and collaborate with engineering teams to build and productionalize AI-enabled Analytics Products.

Desired QualificationsBachelors or equivalent in Mathematics, CS, Statistics, Economics, Business, or other related fields.7+ years hands-on work experience in data analysis, with a focus on onsite web analytics, A/B testing, machine learning and report automation.Skilled in database query tools using SQL, and Hadoop experience is a plus.Good Excel and PowerPoint skills, proficiency with statistical analysis tools such as Python or R.Knowledge of AI tools and techniques, such as Gemini, GPT, LLMs etc.
