Manager, Benefits Services + Job Number: 24500 + Functional Area: Human Resources + Department: Human Resources + School Area: VP for Human Resources + Employment Type: Full-time (Hybrid) + Employment Category: Exempt + Visa Sponsorship Available: No + Schedule: Email a Friend Save Save Apply Now Posting Description MANAGER, BENEFITS SERVICES, Human Resources, will lead a high-performing team and shape the benefits experience for more than 20,000 members of our vibrant community—including employees, retirees, former staff, and key partners; oversee and mentor a dynamic team of six, including two Senior Benefits Specialists, two Benefits Representatives, Tuition Assistance Specialist, and a Benefits & Data Representative; ensure the team delivers high-quality, responsive support via phone, email, and in-person interactions; manage resources to ensure full coverage and timely service; resolve issues for benefit-related escalations across all plans; oversee benefit transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance; conduct quarterly reporting on service level, satisfaction, and trends; administer Tuition Assistance Plan in compliance with IRS guidelines; identify tech and process solutions to boost efficiency; support system testing during open enrollment and benefit changes; collaborate regularly with the Associate Director of Health and Welfare, the Director of Benefits, and the Director of Communications on community-wide benefits initiatives and communications; partner on vendor management, plan revisions, and data integrity efforts with HRIT and other departments. This is a highly visible role with real impact—helping ensure that MIT's benefits offerings not only function flawlessly but evolve to meet the needs of a diverse and dynamic workforce. Job Requirements REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of Human Resources experience with a focus on benefits; expertise in HR/benefits systems and a robust understanding of eligibility rules and plan structures; experience working with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Workday, Oracle Cloud); proven ability to contribute strategically within cross-functional, collaborative environments; robust organizational, communication, leadership, and decision-making skills; commitment to outstanding customer service and operational integrity; and proficiency in Microsoft Office and attention to detail.
