Job Description
The Maintenance Technician role requires a proactive professional who understands, follows, and enforces all established safety health, quality GMP, and company policies, procedures, and recognized practices. You will perform a variety of tasks to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility's equipment, ensuring smooth operations and quality standards.
ResponsibilitiesPerform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and plant facility equipment.Set up and troubleshoot packaging machines and lines.Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.Observe machine operations to ensure quality and conformity of filled or packaged products to standards.Regulate machine flow or speed.Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during operation and perform scheduled maintenance repairs during machine service.Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities.Utilize mechanic skills including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of production machines.Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.Essential SkillsExperience in hydraulics, blueprint reading, preventive maintenance, and schematic interpretation.Proficiency in PLC troubleshooting, motors, fabrication, pneumatics, and general troubleshooting.Experience in GMP practices.Mechanically inclined with knowledge of mixers, blenders, and PLCs.A minimum of 3 years in the foods, packaging, printing, powder, pharma, or similar industry.Ability to perform preventive maintenance on equipment.Experience with motors, pneumatic, hydraulics, conveyors, fillers, and scaling systems.Proficiency in working with single and three-phase equipment with voltages up to 480.Experience with basic electrical testing equipment such as volt meter, amp meter, and ohm meter.Additional Skills & QualificationsWelding experience is preferred.Ability to understand PLCs, including hooking up a laptop to different brands of PLCs.Experience with Bosch vertical bagger equipment is advantageous.Why Work Here?

Work Environment
The work environment is clean and smells like a coffee and bakery shop, offering a GMP atmosphere. The facility is well-lit, spacious, and primarily features gravity-fed high-speed packaging equipment for dry goods such as powders. There are opportunities for growth, with potential expansions to the current building. Openings are available on the 2nd shift from 2:00pm to 10:30pm and the 3rd shift from 10:00pm to 6:30am, including overtime after shifts and major projects on weekends.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elgin, Illinois.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
