Maintenance Technician
**Job Title: Maintenance Technician** **Job Description** The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing production equipment and facility systems in a fast-paced, GMP-regulated food manufacturing environment. This role involves performing both mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, supporting preventive maintenance programs, assisting with production line changeovers and startups, and ensuring all work is properly documented and validated with engineering. Additional responsibilities include ordering parts, coordinating with vendors, and supporting outsourced service teams. **Responsibilities** + Maintain and repair production equipment and facility systems. + Perform mechanical and electrical troubleshooting. + Support preventive maintenance programs. + Assist with production line changeovers and startups. + Document and validate work with engineering. + Order parts and coordinate with vendors. + Support outsourced service teams. **Essential Skills** + Industrial Maintenance experience of 5+ years in a manufacturing or food processing environment. + Electrical Processing experience of 2+ years, including troubleshooting 3-phase power systems, reading and interpreting electrical schematics, and working with motors, VFDs, and control panels. + Mechanical Repair experience of 5 years with conveyor systems, gearboxes, bearings, and line changeovers. + Preventive Maintenance experience of 5 years, including hydraulics and pneumatics, reading pneumatic schematics, and troubleshooting valves, cylinders, and air systems. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Experience in Food Manufacturing / GMP for 1+ year. + TIG Welding experience for 1+ year, including light welding on stainless steel components for equipment repair or fabrication. + Fabrication experience for 1+ year, including cutting, grinding, and assembling custom brackets or machine parts. + Basic PLC Troubleshooting experience for 1+ year, identifying and resetting PLC faults (no programming required). + Spanish Language Skills for communicating with bilingual team members and vendors. **Why Work Here?** Join a company with over 125 years of history and a strong union presence providing excellent job security and representation. Work in a GMP-compliant facility equipped with modern equipment. **Work Environment** The work environment is a GMP-regulated facility with 3-4 production lines, including herring, smoked salmon, fresh salmon, and ready-to-eat food lines. You will be part of a two-person maintenance team, becoming the third member. There may be a fishy smell, but wearing a mask is permissible due to GMP regulations. The shift runs from 6:00 AM to 3:30 PM. **Job Type & Location** This is a Permanent position based out of Chicago, Illinois. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $79000.00/yr.
