Maintenance Technician
**Job Title: Maintenance Technician** **Job Description** We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician with electrical and mechanical expertise to support our plastic recycling operations. The ideal candidate will ensure the reliability, efficiency, and safety of sorting, shredding, washing, and extrusion equipment. This role involves troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repairs to minimize downtime in a fast-paced recycling environment. **Responsibilities** + Troubleshoot and repair 480VAC, 3-phase motors, VFDs, and control panels for shredders, extruders, and conveyor systems. + Diagnose electrical faults in optical sorters, balers, and pelletizers using multimeters, meggers, and PLC diagnostics. + Perform bearing replacements, gearbox repairs, and belt/chain adjustments on conveyors and granulators. + Weld (MIG/TIG) and fabricate repairs on hopper liners, screw augers, and shredder blades. + Troubleshoot hydraulic/pneumatic systems for baling presses and material handlers. + Align and maintain extruder barrels, dies, and cooling systems to prevent production defects. + Address material jams, contamination issues, and wear-related failures in sorting/washing lines. + Optimize equipment to handle varied plastic feedstocks (PET, HDPE, PP, etc.). **Essential Skills** + Experience with extrusion and plastic injection processes. + Proficiency in troubleshooting equipment issues. + Ability to perform electrical and mechanical repairs. + Skilled in using diagnostic tools such as multimeters and meggers. + Welding skills (MIG/TIG) for repairs and fabrication. + Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Experience as an extrusion technician or in injection molding is a plus. + Strong problem-solving skills for optimizing equipment performance. **Why Work Here?** Enjoy competitive pay with a bonus program, comprehensive benefits including health, dental, vision, and 401k, as well as paid time off. Expect exposure to plastic particulates, heat from extruders, and occasional odors. Be flexible for overtime or emergency call-ins during equipment breakdowns. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, Indiana. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $40.00/hr.
