Maintenance Planner & Team Lead

About the Role
The Maintenance Planner & Team Lead plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of our cold‑storage distribution facility. This position combines hands‑on maintenance planning with frontline leadership of an 8–10‑person maintenance technician team. You’ll be responsible for developing preventive maintenance strategies, coordinating repairs, managing work orders, and ensuring all equipment—mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and material‑handling—operates at peak performance.
This is a full‑time, onsite, first‑shift position offering $50/hr or more depending on experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance Planning & Scheduling
Develop, schedule, and optimize preventive and predictive maintenance programs for facility equipment, including refrigeration systems, conveyors, automated shuttle system, and building infrastructure.Review incoming work orders, determine priority levels, and assign tasks to technicians.Coordinate planned downtime with operations to minimize disruption to production and shipping.Maintain accurate maintenance records, asset histories, and documentation within the CMMS.Team Leadership
Supervise, coach, and support a team of 8–10 maintenance technicians across varying skill levels.Provide daily direction, assign workloads, and ensure timely completion of tasks.Conduct performance evaluations, identify training needs, and support skill development.Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.Technical & Operational Support
Collaborate with operations, warehouse, and refrigeration teams to address facility needs.Manage spare parts inventory, vendor relationships, and procurement of materials.Ensure compliance with OSHA, food safety, and facility safety standards.Safety & Compliance
Enforce safety protocols and ensure technicians follow proper procedures.Participate in safety audits, root‑cause analyses, and corrective action planning.Maintain documentation required for regulatory compliance in a cold‑storage environment.Qualifications
5+ years of industrial maintenance experience; cold‑storage or food distribution experience strongly preferred.2+ years of leadership, supervisory, or lead‑tech experience. (Preferred)Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration systems (ammonia or Freon experience a plus).Experience using a CMMS for planning, scheduling, and documentation.Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and engineering drawings.Excellent communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills.Ability to work in cold‑storage temperatures for extended periods.Job Type & Location

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $50.00 - $55.00/hr.
