Maintenance Mechanic Lead- 2nd Shift
**Location:** Itasca, IL **Schedule:** 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM, Monday–Friday (Some Saturdays as needed) **Pay:** $35.00 – $36.00 per hour (based on experience) **Position Overview** The Maintenance Lead performs highly diversified duties including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of machines, equipment, and plant facilities. This includes scheduled, unscheduled, or emergency repairs. The Lead also oversees preventive maintenance (PMs), ensures documentation is accurate, and provides leadership to the maintenance team. We are seeking an experienced leader with 5–10 years of plant maintenance experience who can mentor technicians, guide improvement projects, and support production. Experience in food manufacturing maintenance is strongly preferred. **Essential Duties and Responsibilities** + Lead and support a team of Maintenance Technicians. + Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair PLCs and equipment such as conveyors, carton formers/sealers, film forming machines, printers, palletizer robots, metal detectors, packaging equipment, and refrigeration systems. + Manage preventive maintenance (PM) programs with accurate documentation. + Drive continuous improvement initiatives and lead 5S projects. + Assist in training employees on equipment operation and maintenance best practices. + Collaborate with Production Supervisors and the Maintenance Manager to prioritize tasks. + Ensure strict adherence to safety policies, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO). + Ensure compliance with HACCP, GMPs, OSHA, and SOP requirements. **Qualifications** + 5–10 years of plant maintenance experience (required). + High school diploma or equivalent; technical/trade degree preferred. + Prior food manufacturing maintenance experience (strongly preferred). + Proven leadership or supervisory experience. + Advanced knowledge of PLC troubleshooting, AC/DC drives, 3-phase electrical systems, and motor controls. + Welding and fabrication skills a plus. + Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to motivate a team. + Proficiency in Microsoft Office and maintenance record keeping. + Highly motivated, flexible, and detail-oriented. **Physical Demands and Work Environment** + Ability to lift/move up to 60 lbs. + Work may include standing, bending, crouching, climbing, and working at heights. + Exposure to wet/humid conditions, moving machinery, chemicals, outdoor weather, and heat. **What’s in it for me?** + Competitive pay ($35–$36 per hour). + Leadership opportunity in a growing food manufacturing facility. + Exposure to cutting-edge equipment and technology. + Professional development and training opportunities. + A culture focused on safety and continuous improvement. **If this is a role that interests you and you’d like to learn more, click apply now and a recruiter will be in touch with you to discuss this great opportunity.
