Maintenance Mechanic
Job Title: Maintenance MechanicJob Description

The Maintenance Mechanic is entrusted with the crucial role of setting up, repairing, rebuilding, and installing production equipment to ensure the seamless production of all products. This position involves repairing malfunctioning equipment such as fillers, conveyors, drives, coolers, palletizing, and boxing components. Additionally, the role includes the installation of new equipment or replacement of existing ones, and setting up lines for product changeovers. The Maintenance Mechanic serves as the primary technical leader on the shift, responsible for all planned maintenance, troubleshooting, and reducing downtime due to equipment failure. This role also involves training operators to recognize and report potential equipment malfunctions and to assist with preventive maintenance.

ResponsibilitiesSet up, repair, rebuild, and install production equipment.Repair malfunctioning production equipment like fillers, conveyors, and drives.Install new equipment or replace existing ones as required.Set up lines for product changeovers.Lead the shift as the primary technical expert responsible for planned maintenance and troubleshooting.Reduce downtime due to equipment failure.Assist in training operators to recognize and report potential equipment malfunctions.Essential SkillsTroubleshooting mechanical and operational problems.Making corrective repairs and adjustments to maintain production, safety, and quality.Experience with mechanical drives, pneumatics, pumps, valves, and conveyors.Machining and fabrication skills.Working knowledge of computers.Ability to troubleshoot and repair liquid packaging machinery.Electrical ability to troubleshoot 480v electric, 3 phase motors, and PLCs.Additional Skills & Qualifications2+ years of experience as a line mechanic in a high-speed production environment, preferably in food manufacturing/bottling.Ability to use machine shop equipment, hand tools, power tools, and test equipment.Ability to read mechanical diagrams.Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic controls and components.Experience in pipe fitting, welding, and machining.Previous experience with TPM or Lean Manufacturing is a plus.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

Work in a GMP food and beverage company with a casual attire policy. Jewelry, makeup, and long nails are not allowed on the floor. The schedule follows a B & D shift from 6:30 pm to 7 am on a 2-2-3 schedule.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dayton, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $34.00/hr.
