Location Description

The Lawrence, Kansas facility is 236,000 square feet and home to about 155 hard working team members who are proud to produce iconic pet food brands like Kibbles 'n Bits®. Lawrence is a college town and the home to both the University of Kansas and Haskell Indian Nations University with Kansas State University about 85 miles away. The city is known for a thriving music and art scene and is also the home of the University of Kansas athletic teams.


Responsibilities

Weekend Maintenance Mechanic

Starting rate: $36.70 per hour

 

The schedule for the Weekend Maintenance Mechanic will be: 

Saturday - Monday with alternating Fridays12-hour shifts, 6pm - 6amShift premium: $1.50 per hour 

Responsibilities

 

In the Maintenance Mechanic role, you will:

Maintain and repair all plant equipment and facilities in a way that achieves customer satisfaction in support of the manufacturing of Kibbles ‘n BitsReview work orders to ensure materials are available and develop manpower and scheduling estimates.  Initiate work orders when work cannot be performed immediatelyPerform preventative maintenance and inspection functions and take the initiative to ensure these programs are modified and updated as neededMaintain a clean, sanitary and orderly work area to ensure employee and food safety

 


Qualifications

The successful candidate (s) for this role will have the following qualifications:

Possess a high school diploma or a GEDStrong mechanical aptitude combined with good diagnostic skillsExperience maintaining and repairing manufacturing equipment and facilitiesA proven track record of consistent performance delivering safety and qualityCapability to work well in a team environment and be willing to help solve problems and implement solutionsAbility to comply with a strict attendance policyDesire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environmentAbility and willingness to communicate with cross functional teamsExperience in food manufacturing preferred

Expectations:

Able to operate, perform basic physical activities: climbing, standing, bending, twisting, and moving around stairs, ladders, platforms and various equipmentAble to lift objects up to 60 pounds frequentlyMust be able to effectively read, comprehend, interpret, record, and apply information from documentsQualified candidates may be required to complete an assessment
