Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading all maintenance, reliability, and asset-care functions for a 300,000 sq. ft. distribution center operating complex conveyor systems, PIT fleets, refrigerated environments, and emerging automation.
This role is not reactive facilities upkeep. The Maintenance Manager will design, implement, and own:A site-wide preventive maintenance (PM) programCMMS selection, implementation, and governanceMaintenance readiness for conveyance retrofits, palletized loading conversion, and PLC-controlled sortationSuccess in this role requires strong technical credibility, disciplined program execution, and the ability to lead both people and vendors through change.
Core Responsibilities:
Reliability & Maintenance SystemsBuild and own a preventive maintenance program covering conveyance, PIT, refrigeration, and facility systemsLead CMMS selection, implementation, and ongoing governanceEstablish asset standards, failure-response protocols, and documentationDevelop critical-spares strategy and parts inventory controlsConveyance & Automation SupportEnsure maintenance readiness for conveyor retrofits and palletized loading conversionAct as site maintenance lead supporting PLC-based tote sortation systemsPartner with Engineering, Operations, and vendors during installs, cutovers, and commissioningOwn post-go-live stabilization and reliability handoffUptime & Risk ManagementMaintain 99%+ uptime for conveyance during operating shiftsDevelop contingency plans for single-point-of-failure equipmentSupport of off-shift response for critical failures impacting production
Leadership & Team DevelopmentLead, coach, and develop maintenance supervisor and techniciansSet expectations around safety, quality of work, and preventive disciplineAlign staffing and coverage to operational risk, not convenienceFacilities, Refrigeration & Life SafetyOversee maintenance of HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, compressed air, and building envelopeEnsure compliance with fire protection systems, generators, alarms, and refrigeration systemsCoordinate inspections, testing, and regulatory documentationCoordinate maintenance of freezer/cooler equipment including doors, condensers, evaporators, and compressorsVendor & Financial ManagementManage third-party service providers and emergency repair vendorsSupport capital projects through execution and technical oversightControl maintenance spend and track cost drivers tied to downtime and reliabilityDesired Skills: Strong leadership, ownership mentality, and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team of maintenance staffExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address maintenance and operational issues quickly and efficiently
