Summary
Trane Technologies in Trenton, NJ is hiring for a 2nd Shift Maintenance Electrician! This role will perform complex maintenance work on our production floor and focus on repairing and troubleshooting electrical issues.
2nd Shift Hours (estimated): 2:00 - 10:30pm.
Primary Responsibilities
Performs any combination of (but not limited to) the following duties according to specific department guidelines:
· Determine the existence of electrical hazards and problems. Safely isolate, ground, and prepare circuits and electrical apparatus to enable repairs.
· Have knowledge of and use the required personal protective equipment to protect against arc flash and shock.
· Experience in reading and troubleshooting from blueprints & schematics with system voltages 240 and 480 three-phase systems.
· Troubleshoot and maintain motor control centers, motor start circuits, control loops, generators, high voltage switchgear, protective relaying, and related equipment.
· Read/interpret engineering drawings and manuals to install, calibrate and maintain electrical apparatus. Work from complex engineering and manufacturers drawings or manuals to complete projects and assigned work.
· Install electrical conduit, pull and terminate wiring.
· Ability to use electrical/electronic testing equipment to such as multi-meters, ammeters, megohm meters, high potential testers, oscilloscopes, digital probes to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
· Use hand and power tools related to the electrical trades.
· Install and maintain control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, relays, circuit breakers, and control panels.
· Install and maintain drive systems such as variable frequency drives, eddy current, and DC drives.
· Install and maintain (point to point wiring, equipment replacement) programmable logic control systems (PLC).
· Install and calibrate pressure, temperature, flow, and level controls.
· Observe installed systems to detect hazards and determine the need for adjustments or modifications.
· Design layout work on panels, set up complex control systems, interpret and alter engineering drawings and wiring diagrams if required.
· Repair or replace faulty electrical equipment, including electronic controls, meters, outlets, panels and small mechanical devices such as motors.
· Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
· Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
· Effectively communicate problems and solutions to resolve electrical problems.
· Participate in the on-the-job training of line mechanics and apprentices as needed.
· Use computerized maintenance system to retrieve and enter information.
· Observe safe work practices and ensure work does not endanger others.
· This role is considered safety sensitive.
Qualifications
· High School Diploma or GED
· 3-5 years of electrical industrial maintenance experience
· Journeyman’s License or equivalent degree preferred
· Proficient reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics
· Experience troubleshooting PLC’s
· Ability to work overtime as needed
Base pay rate: $34.00-$36.00/hr.
