Maintenance Assistant
**Maintenance Assistant** Currently hiring for a 1st shift Maintenance Assistant in the Joliet, IL area. Hiring immediately! **Job Description** As a Maintenance Assistant, you will be responsible for repairing basic industrial pumps used to blend and transfer hazardous chemicals. You will perform electrical and mechanical maintenance on mobile equipment, including bobcats and skid steers. Additionally, you will operate Bobcat, dump trucks, plows, and welding equipment as needed. General facility maintenance such as plumbing, carpentry, sweeping floors, and cutting grass will also be part of your role. You must act as the first responder to spills within the facility and undertake other maintenance-related tasks such as cutting and threading pipe or replacing dead batteries in forklifts. **Responsibilities** + Repair basic industrial pumps used for hazardous chemical blending and transfer. + Perform electrical and mechanical maintenance on mobile equipment like bobcats and skid steers. + Operate Bobcat, dump truck, plow, and welding equipment as required. + Carry out general facility maintenance tasks including plumbing, carpentry, and groundskeeping. + Act as first responder to spills within the facility. + Undertake additional maintenance tasks such as pipe fitting and battery replacement. + Preventive maintenance skills. + Mechanical aptitude and experience with industrial maintenance. + Knowledge of pumps and rotating equipment. + Basic electrical knowledge. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Pipefitting experience. + Ability to operate mobile equipment and safely use maintenance tools. + Experience in heavy industrial maintenance. + Understanding of hydraulics. + Welding experience. + Experience in chemical or pump repair. + Familiarity with lockout/tagout procedures. **Work Environment** This role is based in a full-service chemical storage, handling, and distribution logistics company, which is a heavy-duty, industrial environment. Candidates must be comfortable working near hazardous chemicals. The company operates with around 100 employees and is non-union. The work involves both indoor and outdoor activities, with up to 50% of the day potentially being spent outside. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $21.50 - $21.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
