**Aerotek is seeking a Machinist Trainee (Day Shift)**
**Job Description**
Join our service and repair company specializing in pumps and rotating equipment as a machinist trainee. Begin your career as a shop helper while gradually learning to become a skilled manual machinist.
**Responsibilities**
+ Assist in maintaining a clean and organized shop environment by sweeping, mopping, and performing general cleaning tasks.
+ Support machinists in fabricating parts, cleaning shavings, and moving parts around the shop.
+ Utilize measuring instruments such as tape measures, calipers, and micrometers to ensure accuracy in tasks.
+ Engage in mechanical tasks and demonstrate the ability to use hand tools effectively.
**Essential Skills**
+ 2+ years of manual machining experience.
+ Proficiency in using measuring tools including tape measures, OD & ID micrometers.
+ Ability to interpret blueprints and schematics.
+ Strong mechanical aptitude and experience in pump repair and assembly.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Experience in troubleshooting mechanical assemblies.
+ Interest in building a long-term career within the company.
+ Desire to become a manual machinist.

**Work Environment**
Work in a medium-sized, air-conditioned shop bustling with activity due to high business volume. Although space is currently limited, plans to move to a larger facility are underway for 2024 or 2025. Day shifts operate from Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, and Saturday from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, with two paid breaks and an unpaid lunch. Expect to work 50 to 60 hours per week, with potential for overtime on Sundays at double time. Safety attire, including steel-toed boots, jeans, work shirts, and safety glasses, is required.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, Texas.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
