**Job Title: Machinist** **Job Description** As a Machinist, you will be responsible for operating CNC Machines in a job shop setting to manufacture complex components with tight tolerances. You will ensure these components are crafted from print to exacting quality and delivery deadlines. On-the-job training is provided as needed. **Responsibilities** + Perform advanced setup operations and adjust machine tools based on provided programs. + Adjust and check programming for accuracy. + Operate CNC machine tools to execute a complex series of progressive machining operations on a diverse line of work. + Adjust speeds and feeds during operation for optimal performance. + Work from programming instructions, operational data, and machine setup instructions to define and code tool arrangements, material clamping methods, machine calibrations, and console settings for operations like bore, mill, drill, face, thread, and occasional profiling and contouring. + Check parts for conformance to specifications. + Manage multiple units simultaneously. + Perform multiple setups, offsets, and program edits using G&M Codes. + Complete 1-piece jobs from print to finish, including tool changing and maintaining multiple runs. + Handle parts that take 400-700 hours to machine, made of extremely expensive alloys, with the smallest part weighing 10,000 lbs and the largest 100,000 lbs. **Essential Skills** + Blueprint reading - print to part machining. + GD&T knowledge to determine if a part can still be machined per spec. + 4+ years experience in print to part machining using CNC Mills or Lathes. + 4+ years editing or programming G&M codes using controls such as Heidenhain, Siemens, Fanuc, Mazak, or others. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Experience machining larger parts, 10,000 lbs or more. + Experience with Heidenhain or Siemens controls. + Willingness to take on new builds and projects. **Why Work Here?** This is a contract-to-direct role offering significant growth opportunities. This position offers substantial shift premiums and the chance to learn a trade that can lead to career advancement. **Work Environment** This position is located on a job shop manufacturing floor with exposure to oil, dirt, debris, fumes, moving machinery and equipment, and occasional high decibels. The shop floor is climate-controlled. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required at all times. Work hours vary with available shifts including a 3rd shift (Mon-Thurs 4:15 pm-4:45 am with a 16% shift premium), weekend shift (Fri-Sun 5 am-5:30 pm), and day shift (Mon-Thurs 6 am-4:30 pm). **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Merrill, MI. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $19.47 - $36.20/hr.
