**Job Title: Machinist** **Job Description** The Machinist will be responsible for the set-up, layout, and operation of turning mills, particularly focusing on the person and Haas machines. The role involves running prototype work and small run production for the Aerospace and Medical industries, working with materials ranging from plastics to various metals. **Responsibilities** + Set up and layout parts, tools, and machines supporting the machining process. + Layout work from blueprints, sketches, and written instructions. + Load correct programs to the machine and use G&M codes. + Set cutting speeds, depths, and feed rates, positioning tools based on work sketches. + Operate mill turning machine and perform tool changes during work runs. + Select and load the correct fixtures for the job. + Monitor machine speeds and feeds. + Inspect parts using instruments such as gauges, micrometers, and dial indicators. + Verify documentation. **Essential Skills** + Blueprint reading and interpretation. + Programming experience with the person and Haas machines. + Troubleshooting and mechanical skills. + Machine operating and operation skills. + Experience with CNC equipment and machining. + Experience in the Nuclear, Medical, and Aerospace industries. + **Proficiency in CAD/CAM software such as SURFCAM, EDGECAM, Mastercam** **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Associates degree or completion of a technical program. + Experience in lathe operations is a plus. + Comfortable machining a variety of materials. **Work Environment** The work environment is a clean, temperature-controlled CNC machining shop located in a modern 30,500 sq. ft. facility. It specializes in prototype and production components, primarily for medical and aerospace industries. The manufacturing area is spacious, housing eight different mills, surrounded by office space and a breakroom. Lighting and climate-control are designed for precision, and manufacturing practices are dust-controlled. Gauges are monitored using GAGETrak(tm) and calibrated to NIST and/or ISO standards. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dexter, MI. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
