**Job Title: Machinist** **Job Description** The Machinist is responsible for the setup, layout, and operation of turning mills. The role involves working with specific machines and utilizing programming to run prototype work and small production runs for the aerospace and medical industries. The parts vary in materials and can range from plastics to various metals. **Responsibilities** + Set up and layout for 50% of the time, including fitting all parts, tools, and machines to support the machining process. + Layout work from blueprints, sketches, and written instructions. + Load correct programs to the machine and use G&M codes. + Move controls to set cutting speeds, depths, feed rates, and position tools based on work sketches, while setting GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing). + Set proper holding pressure on vises and collets. + Operate mill turning machine and perform tool changes during operation for 25% of the time. + Select and properly load correct fixtures for the job. + Monitor speeds and feeds for the machine and make modifications as necessary. + Cut away excess material to leave only the finished product. + Check quality for 25% of the time, inspecting parts using instruments such as gauges, micrometers, and dial indicators. + Verify documentation. **Essential Skills** + Must have 2 years of experience with specific machines (lathe experience is a plus). + Experience working with specific machines and Haas machines. + Comfortable machining a variety of materials in the aerospace, nuclear, and medical industries. + Programming experience required, with the ability to independently program using SURFCAM, EDGECAM, Mastercam, or specific programming. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Associates or technical program preferred. + Experience with additional programming tools is a plus. **Why Work Here?** The company offers a comprehensive benefits package, including a traditional 'HMO' and a Qualified High Deductible 'HMO' with significant company-paid premiums for various plans. It is equipped with 8 different mills, providing ample space to operate. The facility is located in southeast Michigan, just west of Ann Arbor, and includes office space and a breakroom, with lighting and climate designed for precision in prototyping and manufacturing. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
